Jorge Posada has very few cards. Most have just come out recently but he is still in only a handful of autograph sets..

His autographs sells pretty well..

scan0009.jpg

He has under 100 autographs (not including 1/1's or print runs) with at least half being SP'd to 50 or lower. (Most are triple threads: 25, 18, 3 and Donruss Classic variations.)

placido polanco has nothing

only auto i know of is 2000 just mystery sigs, and that doesnt even have a picture of him on it

i collect tigers and its frustrating when some of your guys have zero cards

Not an autograph, but Polanco does have a bat barrel out of Triple Threads. It shocked me when I saw it on the checklist, then I acutally saw it listed on eBay. The seller had some ridiculous BIN on it, I offered around $100, but was declined, haven't seen it relisted. I believe the bat clearly showed it was from his Cardinals days, but still cool.

Polanco now has 2 autos!! There is a Chirography triple in 2008 SPA with Eckstein and Ellis numbered to 50.

So there's hope yet

As far as I know that card was never made. Polanco was supposed to have quite a few autos in SP authentic like Chirography, Letter Patch autos and some duals all were on the initial checklist but were not included in the final product. Kenny Rogers is another player who had a good career and has no certified autographs.

From the Tigers that's the two I was thinking of. In general there aren't too many road uni patches of Tigers either.

Any other players who are developed stars who don't have much stuff out there? Also, any Rivera collectors? (I seem to recall Jastermereel collecting Rivera and having some sick Rivera stuff.)

I have collected Rivera since 2004!

He is my second guy after O'Neill. I pickup everything, but I focus on older Rivera stuff from 1990-2003. I am currently only a few cards away from reaching the 50% mark for those years. Anyway, all of his autos sell for a ton if you can find them! I don't have too many in my PC yet, just 4 so far. I'd like to pickup a couple more key on-card autos and I'll be satisfied with my collection.

Rare cards....There was a Rivera Absolute auto #/14 that ended for $50 (with a bonus Mattingly auto) yesterday. A great buy for someone to flip. Also, there was a MLB logo 1/1 patch from Leaf Limited on eBay for the longest time for around $800, it must have sold sometime with that live.com discount. (Is the card you bought??)

I have some PC cards scanned here if you want to take a look: http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/marianorivera/

How is this for rare? Rivera buyback auto! Also my favorite PC Rivera card:

Solid card, not too many letterman cards out there (obviously). Are you on the lookout for more Rivera stuff?

Not sure. I picked this one up because the price was so good ($210, when last year I can recall one selling for like $350, and this one is from the AS game at Yankee Stadium, which IMO has to help the price considering he's a Yankee lifer.) Obviously few letterman's of everyone, but the fact the Yanks don't have letters on their jersey's make them almost non-existent for Yankee players. I'll probably look to move this since funds are a bit tight, but I think that Rivera stuff is some of the best "player collection" material for the price you can find.

I don't sell stuff often, but right now I'm selling 5 gold destiny cards which are pretty coveted amongst player collectors. Of all the names I have up there, the last one I thought would have many followers, has the most, Barry Larkin.

The problem with the high end stuff is that there is little or any of his stuff out there as people are hording it when they get it. I know a guy who has a better collection than me and jarcar combined. It is just sick. He should get in to the hall. If Jim Rice can get in Walker should be able to get in.
The problem with Walker is that his home and away splits are too huge to ignore.

Home: .348/.441/.637 with 215 HR's
Away: .278/.370/.495 with 169 HR's

If his numbers were absolutely incredible it would be one thing, but IMO his numbers are borderline HOF if it was a neutral park. With those splits IMO he falls short.
Good stuff but I acually thing he has a better chance than Most. I feel he has more going for him than against him. The things that stick out for me is that he has a Career Avg .313 BA, Low strike outs though out his career, 7 Gold gloves in the out field, 200+ stolen bases (I dont know if larry was thought of much of a threat on the base paths so 200+ seems like alot) 30-30 Club, MVP award. I guess we will see.

Sammy Sosa has a lot of stuff, whether you want rare inserts from the 90s or game-used and patches from 2000 and up. He just doesn't have as many autographs as other stars which partly explains why they sell for good prices.

Yea, I was referring to the first post statement:"(especially the autographs)"...and there truly aren't very many certified sosa autos.

Sosa (according to Beckett) has 469 different certified autos. That's a TON compared to most of the other guys mentioned in this thread. He also has more game-used cards (1,979) than ANY other player mentioned, by a wide margin. I think Sosa collectors have plenty to shoot for compared to somebody who collects Glaus or Hoffman :D

That's interesting to know. Can you share the link and how to figure out how many autos different players have.

The PSA certified and other autographs of Rivera look nothing alike.

Edit: Actually the only things that look different are the capital letters.

Alot of guys seem to have "early" autos, from before they were hounded with auto requests. I look at the changing of auto styles for players as a new personality.

For example, I have this very early Pujols auto, which is quite different than today's auto.
