It looks like the sketch card was photomatched with the image of Tejada shown on this thread.

i hate bursting bubbles - but this artist uses a light box to "trace or transfer" images from photos - therefore, he found a headshot photo on the internet & used it to make this card - yes, TEJADA ... if you do enough google searching, i'm sure you can find the exact photo he used.

What's a light box? Does that mean that he didn't do the artwork himself?

I won this auction, and did some research last night. I too concluded that it's not Bagwell. I emailed the seller, but obviously, I am not a Tejada collector. What would you suggest that I do? I put my high bid in, under the pretense that this was indeed Bagwell.

BTW - Predatorkj, what's the middle card under your signature? Is that a Bagwell sketch card?

I personally just watched it because I started to realize it wasn't Bags.In my mind...I am not sure there is much you can do because from what I am hearing on here...there are no names of the player on the card so I guess theoretically you can't prove its not what the seller says it is.You could contact him and tell him you aren't happy and see about a refund but you can't really rake the dude over the coals if there is no name on the actual card.

No.Its a hack job I did in photoshop on a card I own.

I had no idea you were even still around or buying cards.Nice to hear from you.You back into the card game or just here and there?

The guy was claiming it was Bagwell, and that he asked his friends, and they agreed. I showed him this thread, and he said he would not make me honor the high bid. I am lucky that I did research before sending him the money.

He said he would either relist or give a second chance offer. It's more profitable for him to just say it's Bagwell, because no one would pay $62 for a Tejada. But in this situation, I am glad that he won't make me buy the card. I have like one Tejada card in my collection, and I regret having even that.

I just wanted a Bagwell sketch card. But now that I hear that this one's traced, I can live without one.

Hey There,

After I sold a bunch of cards to buy from a dealer I later learned was a fraud, I took a big break from baseball message boards. I know I gave you the guy's name in the past (Chris Boyd), but you really need to avoid that guy, who is eBay seller game-used-bat at all costs. I made a website about the creep at http://factsonboyd.wordpress.com. Boy, I got taken. I got ripped off for $5,000 for about $1,800 worth of stuff.

Although I haven't been posting on forums a bunch, for the past year, I have been working on my game-used collection, buying stuff from dealers I have actually done legitimate research on. I bought a game-ready Bagwell glove from this reputable dealer in Colorado, as well as a really nice game-used jersey for $1100. I am buying another for $1200, that I will have paid for by this summer.

Unfortunately, the game used collecting leads to little money being left over for actual baseball cards. Though I would like to build my collection back up again eventually. I am just waiting for prices to be right, and for the time to be right. I got a negative from the Topps Vault, and I am looking for 1/1 Bagwell art, and other such stuff. That middle Bagwell on your signature is awesome - too bad to hear it's not a real card!

Anyway, I will be in and out of forums for baseball cards periodically. Thanks for asking.

Yeah...I never bought anything from him.His prices were way too high and he offered little verification as to their authenticity.Bagwell stuff like this is just too damn expensive for me.I don't like the thought of paying over a grand for a game worn jersey. Not worth it in my mind.

As for Bagwell stuff cards wise...it never seems to be all that cheap and I am to the point now where I have a lot of if not most of the base cards and whatnot. Now its all inserts, GU and autos and low numbered stuff.I add what I can when I can but it takes a long while these days to find anyone with a lot of stuff I need. And for some reason he still sells very strongly.

It is a real card. Its the top left card.I just blew it up in photoshop and then cropped it just to get his face in there.

And just to chime in on your website...I understand your frustration but there are a million guys out there like this.I know for a fact that stuff is way overcharged for.I know a dealer here in Houston who sells autographs and he gets them often for free at the different events.Hell...Bags was at UT in Austin Texas for a signing for free and I saw this dealer(and several others) getting things signed again and again and again(if you wanted to you could make about 5 or 6 trips through the line) that were all premium items and I knew for a fact somebody was paying high dollar for them. The dealers had not a cent into them but their time and the low price of the item getting signed(a bat is only $20 but they charge over $150 for a signed one)and as much as they got signed(often bring family members and non collecting friends along to help out) they made a fortune off of a two hour trip and and hour in line.

Its the name of the game friend. The only thing you can do is educate yourself and know that a lot of this stuff can be had really cheap and sometimes for only the cost of your time and the item.

As for the jersey fading...that's because of the pen and the material used. Not saying its your fault or his but its hit or miss. You have to be really careful with what you are getting signed and what you are using to get it signed with.

Since this was sold as a Bagwell, I wonder how pissed the buyer will be if and when they find out it is not him. I can't see someone paying this much for a Tejada.
