I have a question people are always told not to pack search at all...but at a card show today an actual seller was selling "hot packs" for 15 dollars that guaranteed a game used or auto card.
I really think that is considered pack searching and now I am skeptical of who I buy packs from since I have a feeling some sellers search their packs and get the good stuff out then sell the packs they feel have nothing in them.

Selling hot packs isn't pack searching, but to be selling them means he either searched them, resealed them, or bought them from someone who searched or resealed them.

Go with your gut. I've never seen someone at a show selling hot packs next to a packed-out box of that same product, but if I did, I'd certainly never buy packs from the box. If you want to buy loose packs from someone like that, ask him to pack out a fresh box or buy by the box. Or better yet, don't buy wax from him.

There are some packs that actually are released as hot packs. I'm not sure which current ones are, but I know this from buying some 04 Bowman's Best at $15 a pack a few years back at Wal Mart.

BUT most likely, they are packs that the guy (or somebody) has searched. It doesn't mean they are opened and resealed but that's a possibility too.

Just to be on the safe side, I would NOT buy and packs from whatever open boxes he may be selling from. Some of those hot packs may have come right out of the boxes he's selling packs of.

I just completely stopped buying loose packs. I only go for the entire sealed box/case now. Just save up your money 4-5 times you want to just get a couple packs and you can get yourself a box and be guaranteed some hits

Pretty much the best advice one can get on loose packs. I will make an exception if I'm at the store and get the itch...IF the box is freshly opened.

They were products such as football, and baseball. They were felt to see if the thick card was in them in hobby, then were sold for 15 dollars per piece. I didn't buy packs from him cause I was afraid he did the same with the packs he was sellilng.

I am starting to be for packsearching...I get screwed out of so much money cause of everyone else doing it.

at the card shows i go too, most of the people that sell "hot packs" do not sell boxes, they just have maybe 15 packs on they're table that are "hot" packs. There are other dealers though who are certified box/pack dealers, all they sell if packs/boxes.

A good percentage of the time these clowns reseal the packs, so that 15 pack will contain a 3$ one color GU that he couldnt sell any other way. And some of the time they weigh the packs and can tell if its a auto, gu, dual etc so its not even worth it since they take the better ones.

Depends on the seller. There are some good hot pack sellers on eBay and you end up with good pulls. You've just got to use your head.

Am I the only one who could care less about pack searching anymore?

My personal thoughts aside, I don't understand how you get screwed out of money by others doing it.I mean..if you know it goes on then you do what you can to get unsearched packs whether that be from buying blasters or sealed boxes or just loose packs from somebody you can trust.I do a lot of trading with a guy out at a flea market and I know he lets people search the Yughio stuff but I have asked him not to let people do this with the sportscards and I guranteed him if he would make sure that was upheld I would buy or trade for his loose packs instead of going after his sealed boxes(which he prefers to sell whole without opening and selling single packs).Last time I was there I got about 8 packs of the new UD draft and pulled 3 autos out of the packs and some nice low numbered parallels.Just go with who you trust. But if you know something is going on and you don't try to avoid it...that's on you.

Agreed.

It's like you know the stove is hot, but you touch it anyways and then bitch that somebody had it turned on.

ok, this year, when I was opening UD Series 2.. if there was a topper then it was a regular box.. if there was no topper, then I knew that I would get an auto or gu in every pack..

I opened probably 6 boxes and the ones that had not topper were all hot boxes..

Never even seen a product that has something like that in it. :D Wouldn't mind buying a few packs just to get a reaction out of the wife.(Well...that's the excuse I'll use anyways...)

Those Bra Strap cards are from a japanese card company someone posted the other day featuring asian adult film stars. I imagine the people that buy those are the same people that would buy worn schoolgirl ******* out of a vending machine. Odds are, that card has been sniffed devoid of ANY scent since being pulled.
