Some idiot was using my computer and managed to get some nasty spyware called XP Police installed. It's a fake antivirus thing that looks exactly like XP's antispyware stuff. It's a bitch to delete because it puts an Administrator account on your computer and prevents you from making any Registry or Add/Remove hardware changes without jumping through hoops and dicking around in Safe Mode for hours trying to delete everything. It was so bad it wouldn't let me sign on to any email accounts, messageboards, etc

Finally got everything fixed so I can start posting again. Be afraid....

I haven't had this happen in a long time, but when it does I just reinstall...takes about half the time.

Exactly. Backup important files weekly (or monthly if you don't add a lot of important files frequently) and just do a system reinstall next time.
