ROFLMAO!

Yeah, I broke out ROFLMAO.

Yet the Mariners still draw more fans than the Rays.

Jones has 19 game tying or go ahead HR's this year.

I know he doesn't have the overall numbers to beat out Miggy and Trout but Adam Jones is a top 5 MVP candidate for me simply b/c of his defense and the fact that ~15 (this isn't an exaggeration) of his homers have either, late in the game, tied or given the Orioles the lead. I think that was his 4th extra inning HR this year.

Who knows what our record would be without him.

I never bought into clutch as a real stat. Not to take anything away from AJ's amazing season, but that stat is just a random coinincedence as far as the game score goes.

19 times though? We aren't talking about hitting a homer in the 4th inning to tie the game....these are later in the game when the pressure is on....19 home runs to put the team ahead or tie the game. I would love to know what the record is from say....the 7th inning on.

If only he would hit them early in the game. As it is, he is putting this tremendous pressure on the pitching staff to keep the game close since he refuses to hit HRs until late in the game. Plus, all these extra innings are going to lead to an overworked bullpen when they'll need fresh arms for the final playoff push. He's the MVP (Making Veryoverworked Pitchers).

On a more serious note, I can't seem to find a record for single season, but here's some data on HR's by inning in a career. Hank Aaron hit 222 between the 7th inning and 9th inning (don't know how many he hit in extra innings, but it's less than 16). 233 for Babe Ruth after the 6th inning. Pujols has hit 14 in extra innings so far in his career.

**edit** 13 for Aaron in extra innings, so I guess he's the all-time champ with 235

Very cool stat indeed. I wonder how many of those tied the game or put them ahead though. Probably too much time to research that.

Again, Adam Jones has no shot at the MVP, but, if I had a vote, I would slide him in my #5 slot behind Miggy, Trout, Hamilton or Beltre, and Cano simply b/c of what he's done for the O's this year. O's fans are probably the only ones that know it though.

And the O's have won, what, 15 straight extra inning games ? They've been clutch, but it cost Kevin Gregg his job ...

I bet Ichiro is wishing he asked for a trade about 9 years ago.

He's probably the happiest man in the world.
