As much as I like trashing them, and as scared as I was that they'd completely mail it in with no competition, they've pleasantly surprised me.

Topps S. 1 was a solid product. Sticker autos but who cares? It's a set builders product with nice, cheap inserts

Topps Opening Day: The lack of foil bothered me, but for under $30/box, it's still a fun and cheap set to build

Finest: never been a huge fan, but the design was nice, and the Lettermen auto's are much nicer than last year (at least they used patches with team colors this year). And with a strong rookie class, the Rookie Redemptions have some nice value

National Chicle: really surprised me. All on card autos, the artwork is great save for one or two lousy artists, the SP vets in retro uniforms were rad, and there was a good selection of retired guys. The set looks great in an album. Plus, two autos and one game used per box was a pleasant surprise

Bowman: I was scared based on Topps' previous track record of producing lousy BC sets that this one would suck. But Strasburg, Castro, Heyward, the USA stuff...Topps went above and beyond. Plus the base vet set is solid - especially the horizontal action shots.

I didn't count Heritage because it is, and always will be, overpriced crap.
