For those of you who didn't know.

What do you guys think about everyone on every team wearing the same number for a day?

I like it, but I only wish they had the names on the backs of their jerseys. Especially when teams like the Cardinals auction or raffle off the GU jerseys after the game. Would be much better with the names on the back.

100% agree on the names. MLB.com auctions them off, I'd like something to differentiate my star jersey from bench rider. I'd own one already if they did that.

Like that everyone is doing it this year, but would like to see the AL honoring Larry Doby, who is often forgotten.

Ah yes, 42.
The answer to the ultimate question... :)

As for baseball and everyone wearing that number, I guess I'm indifferent to it. I like the fact that they pay tribute to Robinson, but it's a pain for anyone watching the game to figure out who is who. Maybe everyone should keep his number and change the name on the back of the jersey to Robinson (for those teams that display the players' names).

Or teams like the Cardinals who have their numbers on the front and the back of their jerseys could wear their own number on the front like normal, and then 42 and their name on the back.

Yeah, Only a few teams I've seen have the name of the player stitched into the tagging. Most just have the hand written # in the the tag somewhere of player that wore it. At least the MLB authenticated hologram will pop up with the player name in the cert data base they have. Many of these last year went pretty cheap. For some teams it is about the only way to get mlb authenticated gamers from though. I wonder if Griffey will crank out 8-9 of these like he has in the past switching jerseys every inning.

4/15/1947 Jack Roosevelt Robinson

Jackie Robinson
3 AB, 1 R, 0 H, 0 RBI, 1 SAC
Today is Jackie Robinson Day. On this date 62 years ago, April 15th, 1947, baseball changed life. The integration of baseball came before the military integrated and before black people were even allowed to vote.

Baseball was ahead of the times and so was Robinson. He came before Malcolm X or Martin Luther King or Muhammad Ali. It could be argued he did more than they ever did, combined. So when considering the pantheon of great Civil Rights leaders in the world’s history, Jack Roosevelt Robinson’s name should be included.

I think it's kind of lame.

In fact, the only way I would think it would make sense would only be in MLB made every team executive wear a Branch Rickey costume as well.

I think that the idea is nice, but in practice not so great. Honor Jackie Robinson and Brach Rickey with a patch, or every few years wear the numbers. To me it has lost it's meaning when you force everyone to wear a number that has been retired by the league. Baseball players are superstitious and my only want to wear their number, not to mention the confusion in the broadcast booth. I think in the future if they want to do this, then the players name needs to be on the jerseys and their original number needs to be on their sleeve, like a patch, or the front of their jersey.

I wonder how your supposed to tell the players apart. I always get Chipper and Andruw Jones confused but the names help me differentiate between the 2 fellows. Today I don't think I will be able to tell.

PS - I am watching the Sox - Tigers game on WGN and the Sox broadcasters are the most pathetic I have ever heard. These guys suck ass, especially the Hawk guy.
