Jay Buhner had 5 foul balls against Pedro Martinez in 1999

Yikes.

One of my favourite ever match-up stats is that in 2003 and 2004, Carlos Delgado homered in five consecutive at-bats against Jorge Sosa. That's incredible.

Jay Buhner was the best player in Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball for SNES.

I couldn't believe that MLB Network left Buhner off the All Time Mariners roster. I would have put him on the bench...

Absolutely. It is my 2nd favorite website after FCB.

My morning routine is to go there and get inspired to check stats/games/etc while I drink my coffee. I often make the same posts there that I do here. I know that some FCB'ers like this crap as much as I do, but aren't nearly as obsessive about research as me.

With a house full of people that don't like sports (my wife and two little girls), this is the only outlet I have.

Jay signed my M's cap in Peoria last spring. Very gracious. he signed everything and took pics with anyone that asked. He played in Calgary with the Cannons.

Anybody remember those Headliners figures back in the 90s? Jay Buhner was my first baseball one. Got a stack of them at Christmas and he was the first I opened.

I also got Sammy Sosa, Bonds, and Canseco. I now look at those three and laugh. I thought about cutting one of their bats off and replacing it with a little needle...

Makes sense to me. Keep posting! I certainly enjoy obscure stats!

Bone was one of the nicest players I have met. I met him in 1987 when he was still with the Yankees organization in AAA Columbus. He was leading the league in HR with 31 when he got called up. Tidewater Tides 1st baseman Randy Milligan was leading the International League in hitting and RBIs, but was trailing Buhner in HRs. Milligan finished with 29 HR, in 2nd place behind Buhner, falling just short of the Triple Crown. Milligan finished the season as the IL MVP, leading the Tides to the best record in the IL that year.

For yet another obscure stat, Milligan is one of 113 players (since 1956) with 700 games and a career OPS+ of 127 or higher: http://www.bb-ref.com/pi/shareit/5eWn

Lots of great players on this list.

.

I went to Foxwoods to play bingo something like 10 years ago, and my then-girlfriend was telling me that everyone would bring good luck trinkets with them - so I brought a Jay Buhner Headliner figure....and lost.

Wow. He walked a lot. Which is a bit unusual for a hitter reared in the 80's. He was a moneyballer's dream. I am guessing injuries derailed his career.

I have vivid memories of an Oriole driving a ball into the gap to end the Twins 15 game winning streak in 1991. Almost positive that was Milligan.
