A while back I opened 2 07/08 USA sets. I was able to sell all the cards, except a Jeff Malm auto. So after not thinking about it for a few months, I decided to take a look at his stats.

.582/.672/1.044 10 HRs 51 RBIs

He was a preseason All American First Team selection at 1B, but is also a starting pitcher. He has committed to USC.

So I guess my question is, what are the odds of him keeping his commitment to USC, instead of going pro?

If a big market team drafts him (Dodgers, Yanks, Mets and a few others) and throw 1st round money at him in the 10th round he'll go more than likely if someone does that.

I don't think he is going to fall that far. He's a 2-4th round guy.

Teams may steer clear just because of his commitment though, or if his price tag is high, and just checked the BA thing on him and doesn't he go to the same school as Bryce Haprer?? ( Bishop Gorman High (Las Vegas))

Could be. The team that gets him will get a good one.

I think Harper goes to Las Vegas HS. 14 of the 15 preseason All Americans are committed to colleges (Harper isn't eligible to commit yet)

Yes, it is Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas.

Very little chance he heads to USC. He's improved his stock, which was already pretty solid, so he'd have to put out a ridiculous price tag, or basically say "Don't draft me, I'm going to school".

Oh, he doesn't go to the same school as Harper. Harper is LV High, Malm is Bishop Gorman. They haven't even played each other this season, and would only meet in the playoffs.

Actually, I believe he ended up with around 15-16 HR and close to a .600 batting average. His team, Gorman, plays in the same division I do, in which they ended up taking first. He is no doubt a better hitter than he is a pitcher. The kid can mash. The one hit he had off of me this year was a HR on a changeup I left a little bit up. He rarely gets fooled on pitches and is very balanced at the plate. I truly believe he will be successful whichever way he goes, college or the pros.

 No problem. I'll take it though. That's the only hit he got. Ended up going 1-5 off of me this year with 2 k's. Better than a lot can say around here.
