No bashing here. Joe has every right to write a book. The Yankees drove him out of town..and now they miss him. I was one of the people who wanted Torre to stay with the Yankees. I’m not coming out here and just saying that because Girardi failed to make the postseason. Torre always had the Yankees playing in October, and for that..he was doing a great job. You can always find problems with every manager..nobody is perfect.

Joe Torre left with a sour taste in his mouth, and that is understandable. Torre was given a one-year deal, instead of the two-year deal he really wanted. He never failed in bringing the Yankees to the postseason, and the fans were spoiled from it. I bet a lot of those fans who wanted him out of NY..want him back now that Girardi missed the playoffs in his first season. I’m not knocking Girardi, but I would rather have Mr. T.

I have no problem in Joe voicing his opinions. He deserved a whole lot better…

Torre seems like he is writing about individuals, not an organization.

As much as he is liked and respected, no one would fault him for doing so, unless he was specifically talking trash about the Yankees as a team and as an organization.

Now if this was Gary Sheffield talking about anything, he'd be lambasted.

I will be reading this one. I would like to get a copy of it signed...too bad I am not close enough to NYC to make it happen. I read on espn.com that it talks about how some of the players called A-Rod "A-Fraud" and how A-Rod had a "single white female"-like obcession with Jeter. Pretty brutal stuff from Torre, should be interesting.

So much for Gentleman Joe. Why write a book. I am sure he is not low on funds. He should be thanking Cashman for the talent he provided him with. Look at the players Joe got to manage. Very low class Joe.

I think you are missing the point that he was heart broken, Cashman and George did some very slimy things to him including the way he was let go. And from my understanding he was tormented by them for YEARS. I am sure Joe will give Cashman credit for building these teams but the behind the scenes stuff he did will be brought to light.

What point? Cashman gave him some of the best players of our time. Poor guy did not get a 2 year contract boo hoo seriously. I believe they offered him 5 million for one year. Take the one year contract and manage your team of perennial all stars and do some damage in the post season.

good for him. for a guy that gave his all, he was kicked out the door pretty badly leaving NY. I hate the yankees. I am a yankee hater and love it when they lose. But as a baseball fan i have always been a HUGE jeter fan and i have always admired Joe Torre. Im sure with another manager they would have won a world series or maybe even 2 with all that talent, but it is hard to manage in NY, and it is hard to make a team come together, and i know he had a great bunch of talent there when he got there, but the man did win 4 titles and he took his team the playoffs EVERY year he was there. That guy was treated like garbage in the way he was let go. Does it hurt his image that he would go out there and write a book? Sure. Is Arod a headcase? probably. But Joe Torre was treated like a used up band aid after winning 4 world series, and taking his team to 5 of them in a 11 year span. I know the collapse in 04 hurt him and all that, but maybe if Arod actually had a couple clutch hits in the playoffs rather then in a meaning less game in June, maybe another world series birth would have helped him save his job. Saying a man needed motivation to make the postseason after the man took your team there every year is a insult. good for joe for speaking out. He took alot of Unwaranted shat for a long time.

I know this might be a lot to ask, but any chance you don't need 5 copies for family and friends and would consider picking one up for me. I'd obviously cover the cost of the book and shipping.
