I mentioned it in today's MLB post...this is the second time he's come back from this inner ear issue and homered in his first AB. Then a 3-run shot...he's quietly becoming one of the best hitters in the NL.

I have had 3 bad experiences with him at atuograph events:

Southern League All Star Game:

Every one is signing up a storm and he starts out the conversation I am only signing 1 of my three cards. " Pick one " My response was okay since they are all the same you choose one. Votto ended up signing half the card and half of the table. So I have a nice J of his two letter sig.

Reds Instructs:

Every player is done for the day and he refuses to let go off a sharpie while signing baseballs. Instructs is the poor mans AFL for the grapher.

Last time this years ST:

Homer Bailey of all people has stopped at the gate to sign. That alone should tell you that the stars have aligned and world peace is shortly coming..... Votto pulls up behind him and cant go around Bailey. So the people that have already gotten Bailey then try for Votto, he rolls up his window and puts his car in reverse and goes around Bailey. Fine, but little did he realize that the line for Bailey had to move to make room for Votto's car to pass and then Bailey took this chance to get away....

If you don't want to sign then don't but if you are signing don't act like isn't killing you.

Why can't be thankful that you got anything at all? He doesn't have to sign for anyone, if you want his autograph so bad go on Ebay and buy a certified copy for $20. Players don't exist just to make autograph hounds happy so they can turn around and sell the stuff that they signed. (Not saying that's what you personally were going to do that)

Votto was better than Bruce as a rookie last year.
Votto is better than Bruce this year.
But Bruce gets all the hype because of his younger age and potential.

That potential is down to .235 and left the tying run on base in the 9th.

He almost had it the last couple at bats, going deep. Hopefully he'll get over this power kick he's been in and just start swinging more freely like he used to.
