Replay clearly showed a mark where the ball landed on the chalk line. Ball should have been called fair. Is the umpire Adrian Johnson blind? Just go check the line.
In my humble opinion this accomplishment should have a dent for not being a true no hitter.

In that case, Armando Galarraga has a perfect game.

Anyone else sick of hearing Amsinger on MLB Network?

All he has done for the last hour is bring up how it should have been a hit. You know, he could at least try and be objective-instead, he acts like a 10 year old kid. It's fine the guy is a Cardinals fan, but have a little class. He brought up the blown call more than he talked about the result of the game.

Congrats to Johan.

Topps can predict the future. Fours years after producing that no-no card, it has come true.

Absolutly amazing yesterday. Gave me chills watching and them reaching in sportscenter.

Is there a resident Santana collector? If someone could pass along their handle that'd be great. I've got a really nice signed Jersey I'm looking to move.

A bad call by an ump is far less tarnishing than some home team offical scorer that scores hits as errors to save a no-no....I can't think of any specific examples right now, but I remember this occuring more than once....

Not really, a terrible call is a terrible call regardless if it comes from an umpire or an official scorer. Even the most die-hard Mets fan has to ultimately conclude that this is the most celebrated one-hit shutout in history. OR we can legitimately call it a no-hitter* (with an assist to Adrian Johnson).

Edited to add: I'm getting tired of this whole "human element" crap that is effecting the game. Horrible calls used to happen every once in a while...now it's part of every game.

why cant people give Johan the credit he deserves? He didnt pitch last season, and he comes in and throws 135 pitches for the first no-hitter in mets history! To all those people who say the umpire gave it to him, and the umpire this and that....i shouldnt have to explain to you how fast that ball was coming in his direction and he had one shot to make the call. He called it as he believed he saw it, and thats that. All the people sitting behind the tv with instant replay had it slowed down and frozen as the ball hit the edge of the line...FROZEN. The ump made the call in REAL TIME, and he didnt waiver...he called it immediately. Theres no difference between that and a home plate umps strikezone...all the strickezones are different and freeze frames/overhead cams/etc. show the balls being off the plate yet strikes are called....you coming on here to complain about that?

Stop the whining because your team didnt get the no-hitter, and give props where props are due...to Johan who came in and made team history, and then went on the mic to say it was for the fans and thanked his teammates and Mike Baxter. Sheesh!

Next some will come up, that anyone that throws a no-hitter only gets credit for the no-hitter, if he pees in a cup and summit a sample. Kind of like the tour defrance guys. And even horses in a horse race have to do. So if he comes up clean then he gets to keep the no-no. I'm sure someone out there is implying this been done. Seems that steroids have ruined the game.
