Jerry Manuel just announced on the Mets Post Game New Conference that Johan Santana will not start tomorrow due to discomfort in his left elbow

Are the Mets the most incompetant team in baseball? He had elbow discomfort in Spring Training, did not have Johan type numbers (Ks way down) and they just announce he's missing a start in basically September? I may be thinking too much but I really do not get the Mets. That team needs to be completely retooled to have success in the future. Both the Marlins and Braves have surpassed them for the future and the Phillies are obviously way ahead of them. Their farm system is in awful shape. Mets fans, how do you fix this?

It wouldn't have mattered they would have lost anyway.

Here's something for a debate... Why haven't the Mets placed Jerry Manuel on the DL yet for brain surgery?

He should have been shut down a while ago.

The Mets should be "playing" for a top pick next year.
+68, the amount of loses the mets have this year

It doesn't sound too serious. He's probably going to be good to go after this start is skipped

WHY should Santana pitch again in 2009?

Me,
July 2009
Because Jerry Manuel still feels they have a shot to win

i don't think that johan should be benched for the remainder of the season, but anyone who gets injured now, that injury should be fully healed before coming back. No risks should be took to put an extra player into a lineup thats gonna lose anyway.

Agreed. Nothing left to do. Shelve Wright as well. Beltran, Delgado, and Reyes, should be shutdown as well.

A couple of Mets teammates revealed Monday evening that Johan Santana's elbow is in bad shape, and may require surgery.
"I don't think anyone expects good news," said fellow starter Mike Pelfrey. New outfielder Jeff Francoeur concurred with that sentiment, adding that he thinks surgery is in the cards. Santana has already been scratched from his next scheduled start and it sure doesn't sound like he'll be returning this year. The left-hander will be examined by a specialist Tuesday before any decisions are made.
