I know most of you guys only follow the NBA, but this is very big news. Wall, a consensus top 5 recruit and arguably #1 in the country, chose Kentucky today. This caps what might be the best recruiting class in college basketball history. Wall, Demarcus Cousins (consensus top 5 PF), Eric Bledsoe (top 25 PG), Daniel Orton (top 25 C), plus Darnell Dodson and Joe Hood (both top 100 guys) together probably would have been enough to win the SEC this year. Not to mention they are getting Patrick Patterson back and maybe Jodie Meeks. Unbelievable.

This class is as good as the one Pete Bell put together in the movie "Blue Chips"

On a more serious note, if Meeks is back, along with Patterson, they'll have a real good mix of experience and talent that should hit its potential towards the start of SEC conference play.

Agree. Plus, Calipari's dribble drive motion offense is geared a lot more towards individual play than your average college team. These kids should have no problems adjusting. The one guy I see as potentially struggling, though, is Cousins. He still has a little baby fat on him, and he has no prayer of starting over Patterson and I'm sure Orton will get the start at C. Plus, Cal has a better track record with longer, more athletic big men than bigger slower guys. Dorsey, Taggart, Dozier and Marcus Camby are all long athletic types and were great in his system.
Hate them or love them, they'll be fun to watch this year.

Needless to say I am pretty pumped up about now. Really looking forward for the season to start. There is talk about having Midnight Madness at the football stadium this year would be awesome to see 70 thousand for a basketball practice.

I really wanted him to go to Miami... Kentucky is gonna be scary good next year, even if some of these guys will be gone after this year.

Sad thing is, the talk shows are already predicting a Final Four, so anything less than that, the stupid fans may run Coach Cal off. There are so many stupid, ignorant, moranic retards that call into these shows it's not even bearable to listen.

True, but Cal will never get run out of town because before the season even ends, he will have Kyrie Irving and other studs locked up for the 2010 class.

Trust me, he can get run out of town. One or two bad losses and a few second round - sweet 16 exits, the dumb fanbase and talk show hosts will run him out.

Usually I'd agree as I don't put a ton of stock in freshmen, but there is really no good team that brings a lot back other than Michigan State. If there is a year where I think a freshmen-led team can do it, this is it.

Kansas brings back everyone...They're my preseason pick if that means anything though.

And has a few decent freshman coming in.

Xavier is a stud, but I don't see anyone else making a day 1 impact. But "bringing back everyone" for Kansas means Collins and Aldrich. They are definitely deserving of preseason top 5, but my point is there is no UNC this year, where it's one team and then everybody else. Everyone this year is pretty even with no one really standing out.

Collins is easily the best PG in the country, this freshman class seems like it could rival the Durnat/Oden class in depth.

Thing is, they aren't a freshmen led team. They have a lottery pick Junior Forward, and someone I would call a top 5 college big man in basketball, Patrick Patterson. Then senior Jodie Meeks, who shats on other teams. Darius Miller will be the starting small forward and he's a sophmore. The only two freshmen that will start will be Wall at the point, and Cousins at center. But you can bet that Orton, Bledsoe, and Wood will all get significant PT.

Thank God that Stevenson, Harris, and Porter won't touch the floor ever again.

Patterson will be back, yes, but I am quite sure Meeks is gone. He doesn't want to come back and have to fight a bunch of rookies for playing time. Outside of those two, there was pretty much no other talent, except for occasional flashes from Deandre Liggins. There's no doubt they will be heavily reliant on freshmen.

I think Collins is a damn good player, but I'm not sold on him as the best point in the country. He played well while running through a relatively weak Big 12 schedule. The PG strength of his opponents last year was not strong at all. The best guy he went up against was Willie Warren, who was still only a freshman, in a game where Blake Griffin was out. Again, not saying he isn't very good, but I'm just not sold on him as a guy who can be the leader of a national championship team. 3 of the 4 final four teams last year had stud PGs; Lawson, Price and Lucas, and I'd take all 3 of them over Sherron. Plus, I remain very unimpressed with the rest of their team; Morningstar, Tyshawn Taylor, Reed don't strike me as starters on a National champ.

John Wall is that Good and will have chance at national POY with Patterson

My final 4 right now is

Kansas- with Xavier Sherron and Cole
Texas- Bradley,Pittman and James
Nova- Corey Fisher Corey Stokes and cheek
Kentucky- Wall is a Game changer Cal is an incredible coach for young stars. They also got Bledsoe Cousins Orton and argubaly the best recruiting class ever + Patrick Patterson coming back.
