If Jose wanted to play in the MLB this year, he should have been playing in an independent league last year...

Canseco did play in an Independent league last year. He played in the North American League, for the Yuma Panthers, which is made up of teams from the USA and Canada. In Fact Ozzie Canseco was also on the team with Jose, who was a DH.

My bad, I completely misread what was written. I thought it said he came close to playing in Yuma last year, but it said

Jose only came close to that playing with the Yuma Scorpions last year.

I guess I missed the word "that" which turned out to be an important word in the sentence.

This shouldn't even be debatable. He is 47 and hasn't played in the MLB for 11 years!! Hell, there are kids that were born in the last year he played that would have a better shot at making a roster. And none of them are clubhouse snitches.
