Re: Josh Johnson pick-up thread

So as a player collector, I see you obtain more than one copy of certain cards. For myself, I am satisfied with just one copy of any given card. What advantage do you see in obtaining more than one copy of a given card?

I'm just a hoarder of my player collections. I don't like to get just one, especially if it's something that I really enjoy visually. Being a Greenberg fan, I couldn't imagine loading up on mid 30's cards, as I'm guessing, when even in fairly poor condition, they cost a good chunk of change. I've let one Johnson go, and that was tough, but for an outstanding accomplishment. I may down the road, but, to start parting with this collection would take a very good reason.

BTW, LOVE your collection and your pick up posts !

Take care, Dave.

Re: Josh Johnson pick-up thread

I have more pics, but they're on the digital camera still ::facepalm::

^ Shilled terribly on this one. Cost me $41 + shipping, the next 1/1 cost me $12, inc. shipping)

I think this makes 18 of the '06 Future Stars. My brother has about a dozen of them as well, that I plan to acquire on the way back from Nats

2nd copy

This was from last year, but I never have had a pic up, I don't believe (I've got 2 of the 9)

2nd copy (Peeled both, since it was worse than the old Finest / Pinnacle Certified peels)

That's all for now, but there is a ton waiting in the wings :P

According to the auction, it's #'d 55/60, in the pic:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0380042732
That's money.

One w/out a scan and not in-hand went for a few dollars less, the same day. And all his prices fluctuate so much. One day you'll get a '06 auto for $7 shipped, the next day there'll be a BIN hit for $21. Goofy folks out there :?

Getting nastier every day. Are the encased 1/1's blank backs?

Yes, they are. Not a super huge fan of them, but they are trading cards with Josh Johnson on them, so I pick them up whenever possible :P

Knew I had more that I had acquired, from Nats and a HUGE thank you to George (Calfas) for sending the Red Ink '11 A&G Auto to me for nothing . Truly one of the greatest people I know and it was an honor to meet you at Nationals, kind sir :salute:

^ Thanks to Matt (ballerskirp) for picking this up for me at Nats. Had a helluva time meeting up with him, due to the insanity over at the Tristar area and trying to get the wrestlers auto's & pictures ^

DSC06132.jpg

^ Only $0.25 at Nationals. Off center, but, it's a JJ ... ^

DSC06130.jpg

^ From a Youtuber / BlogTV fella at Nats. Asked me how much I would pay for this. I said $13 (a little below the going rate on eBay. He said it's yours for $10  ) ^

^ Picked this up a couple years ago and left it at a guy's house in Leland, IL. I'm thoroughly guessing it isn't "my" JJ, but the former Royals shortstop, who I now believe is in the Nationals minor league system. Still a cool item though :P ^

DSC06188.jpg

^ From George (george_calfas). Again, I cannot thank you enough for this George. You truly don't know how much it does mean to me :grouphug:

George is one of the most selfless and kind people we have on this board. Great gesture by him and by skrip. I knew you would like the letterman when skrip showed me it. Sick stuff all around, but that JJ/Stanton dual is probably my favorite behind the Triple 1/1.

Thanks man. I gave Matt my number on Wednesday or Thursday and to lmk if he could pick that up. The 'H' was the last one I needed for the name set, but I had picked it up at the end of June for like $28 dlvd. Then another came up two weeks later and won that for around $14 dlvd. When he said this was $10 or $12, I made sure that he snagged it for me.

And George is awesome people. Didn't get to speak with him too long at Nats, because his time was limited, but it was good to at least say thank you in person.
