Fans in Harrisburg hoping to catch a glimpse of outfielder Josh Reddick this weekend will instead have to turn on the TV. The 22-year-old Reddick is Boston's No. 5 prospect, according to Baseball America, and accompanied the Red Sox's Class AA affiliate, Portland, to City Island for a three-game series against the Senators this weekend. But before Friday's series opener, Reddick was told he's moving up to the big leagues.
Reddick was hitting .277 with 17 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and five stolen bases in 63 games with the Sea Dogs this year. The Red Sox made a slew of moves, including the addition of catcher Victor Martinez from Cleveland, on Friday, Major League Baseball's non-waiver trade deadline. Throughout the maneuvering, an outfield spot opened up for Reddick. It will be his first trip to the bigs. To take Reddick's place on Portland's roster, the team is activating outfielder Jason Place from the disabled list.
Hey its only for one night and he likely wont play but SWEET!
