Francona confirmed that the Sox have optioned out Josh Reddick and brought up lefthander Billy Traber, making room for him on the 40-man roster by designating infielder Gil Velazquez for assignment. Traber could be the first man out of the bullpen tonight if Brad Penny encounters early difficulty. Francona also indicated that Clay Buchholz, who is still scheduled to start on Saturday, also would be available in relief if necessary.

Yes sent back down to AAA. Billy Traber was called up because we all know Brad Penny stinks and cant get through 5 ip's. They need a long relief guy with their bullpen pitching 7 innings last night.

He will be back up in September when the rosters expand. They want him to play reguarly and with Bay and Drew healthy again, no need to have him riding the bench.

No..Reddick was only up because Bay and Drew were hurt. Now that they are healthy, Reddick will not be back up until September.
