His stuff is still really cheap considering his power potential as a third baseman. An orange refractor for $42? What's the downside of this guy? K's?

Dave Kingman incarnate. Hey K's a ton, doesn't walk, but what he does it tends to leave the park or go for extra bases. He's an interesting prospect; I was disappointed when my elite auto only yielded $3 when I ebayed it last week. Oh, and he can't hit lefties either.

Is 91K's in 437AB really a ton of K's for a power hitter? Stanton has K'd 121 times in 405AB's. I think Halman fits your description a bit better.

Jaypers, Brignac got called up to the bigs because of Burrell's neck issues.

I heard. Hopefully they'll keep him up for the remainder of the season.

I would consider it too many for a successful power hitter. The way I see it is, for a power hitter to get away with strikeouts, he should walk quite a bit to boost his OBP as he will most likely not hit for a good average if he K's a lot. Lets compare two players: Danny Espinosa and Juan Francisco (based purely on raw statistics, not based on level or anything like that).

Espinosa: 477 PA, 107/63 SO:BB, 22% K rate, 13% BB rate, .376 OBP

Juan Francisco: 464 PA, 91/20 SO:BB, 20% K rate, 4% BB rate, .317 OBP

Espinosa is an example of player that can get away with the amount of whiffs he has because of the amount of walks he draws. No power hitter will turn into a star in the majors with an OBP like that.

Hey JP, here is the info pertaining to Rays prospect Rhyne Hughes:

"Rhyne Hughes has been sent to the Baltimore Orioles as the player to be named later in the Gregg Zaun trade, according to the Tampa Tribune"

He's now an Oriole (I'm not too thrilled but maybe he can get called-up & stay up with them....he's a pretty productive prospect/player IMO). :D

I gotcha. How about this one for a power hitter. To many K's for power potential?

278AB's 78/30 SO:BB .373OBP .542SLG .915OPS 13HR 222B's 23B
Righties: .301avg
Lefties: .315avg

It looks like a pretty even line to me. I would have have to have the number of PA's as well.
