Hopefully this allows players like Carter to make it as well.

I figure he will be back around the end of May. I also thought they should just use Lugo as a utility IF from the beginning of the season and it looks like that will be the case. He can play 2B/SS and if he can play 3B he will probably get more AB's than if he was just splitting time with Lowrie. Lowrie is better defensively and pretty similar with the bat to Lugo. If you throw the contracts out of the discussion, most people would have Lowrie starting anyways.

I know Lowrie really wanted the starting job, and well he got it. He is much better defensively, can't wait for the season to start!!

Probably Argenis Diaz or Nick Green. We could also see Chris Carter make the big league club if they want to even play Youkilis at 3rd and give Lowell a break.

Lowrie is the man, now that he is healthy I expect a .290 20 90 season.

If that is his season I will be ecstatic. He's probably going to hit 7th/8th, and any offensive production beyond .275, 10, 75 is a bonus.

Even with a bum wrist last year his RBI's projected to close to 100. He has always been a .290-.300 type of hitter so I'm expecting a big year.

He has the potential to be a great fielding, above average hitting SS. Fortunately the sox dont "need" him to be that power hitting SS unless there are severe injuries around the diamond. The Pedroia injury concerns me much more than Lugo's

Yeah, WEEI seems pretty sure it'll be Green. I just think this team needs to try a lot of different guys as utility guys, so if there is an injury (Lugo taking longer than expected, Lowell, etc.), there are plenty of guys ready to step up.

It's about time they stopped playing around and gave the starting job to Lowrie. His steady play last season, along with the demise of Lugo, makes it a no brainer, IMO.

Here's to a great season for Jed Lowrie....

I know, but thats what the "rumor" is. He doesn't have the MLB bat but has shown the defensive ability. I bet its Nick Green though.
