Got a COMC shipment in today, I'll show more when I get a chance to sort through it but this is the biggest ticket item, a super sweet '90s card:

060122-1.jpg

1998 Upper Deck Retro Quantum Leap Ben Grieve, 19/50. Popular set so I jumped on it immediately.

Also got a few in from eBay recently, nothing big:

The 2020 Heritage Chrome White Refractor Puk/Brown/Luzardo RC 50/71 would have been a pretty nice card 2 years ago, but it's not so hot now. Cost me a whole $5 plus another $5 shipping. It usually pays to wait, especially with A's prospects, ha.

Here's the highlights from my recent COMC shipment:

060422-1.jpg
060422-2.jpg

A couple of 2005 Topps Cracker Jack Mini White 1/1s. Somebody was really hoarding 2005 Cracker Jack and decided to sell recently, as I've picked up several rare cards from that set for decent prices.

060422-3.jpg

Some neat GU. The Holliday ticket is 24/52.

060422-4.jpg

More GU and a couple of autos. The Triple Threads GU base card is pretty cool. The Matt Olson is 01/25. And the Jim Perry was one I wasn't aware of until recently. so I had to pick it up. I still find A's cards I didn't know about from time to time.

060422-5.jpg

Some older parallels. 1998 Ultra Platinum Medallion Jason Giambi 088/100 gets my needs for that team set down to 4. The 1999 UD MVP Super Script Matt Stairs is 24/25. I had a really tough time locating a 1997 Totally Certified Blue McGwire, even though they are /1999...that completes the team set. After picking up the Canseco I still need one 1997 Select Company card, but it's a bit tougher to find since it's one of those second series cards where they ALL say "Select Company" so I have to see a pic to know it's legit. 2005 Topps Pack Wars Foil/56 cards are a bit tough to find. And the 2005 Turkey Red Gold Bobby Crosby 30/50 drops my needs for that set to 3.

060422-6.jpg

More recent parallels. The only one of these where I am close to the team set is 2011 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors - only need one more.

060422-7.jpg

Some odds and ends that didn't fit with the rest. 1934 Goudey Doc Cramer, I think I got this for under ten bucks. After I complete the T205 and T206 team sets I'm going after the Goudeys, so I pick them up here and there when they're a good deal. 2019 Finest Blue Chips Gold Refractor Matt Chapman 28/50. And finally, a 2001 Elite Title Waves Holo-Foil Jason Giambi 0068/2000 - but only the first 100 were holo-foil.

Yesterday's mail

1998 Leaf R&S Extreme Measures Die Cut /127 (Both die cut and uncut are numbered /1,000 but the first 127 Bagwells are die cut).

1996 Pinnacle Aficianado Magic Numbers - I'm a sucker for cards printed on materials other than card stock.

A couple of good ones in today:

060622.jpg

T205 Ira Thomas was the last "common" I needed for the team set - the only card left is an Eddie Collins variation that will probably set me back a few hundred bucks. And the Canseco All-Star card finally completes the 1991 Topps Desert Shield A's team set!

Two more 1998 Ultra Platinum Medallions get my need list for the team set down to two...but one of those is Rickey Henderson so it won't be completed any time soon. 1998 is my favorite Platinum Medallion year. 2004 is one of the lamer Platinum Medallion efforts but it's also very tough for some reason. I still have a long ways to go for the team set after picking up this Bobby Crosby 004/100. The 2004 Leaf Certified Cuts Marble Blue Reggie Jackson 24/50 drop my team set needs to 1...Rickey Henderson again! It's the same way with the Marble Red/100 set. Huston Street was the last /299 2006 Upper Deck Gold card I needed, but I do still need one of the /99 high number RC SPs to complete the team set.

1990 Windwalker Discs Henderson/Canseco. These annoying big "cards" were actually pieces to make a windchime-like thing. They're a little tough but not impossible to find or anything.

1890 Arbuckle Coffee #23 Polar Bears - It's a little beat up but not too shabby for 130 year old paper.

Some recent non-Dodger items...

Catfish.
Hunter.jpg
. Got a Don Maynard, but already had his card from this set. Down to needing 3 I believe, but at least 2 will be somewhat tough to find any bargains on.

Also gopt this set to remind me of the 80s and me doing what most kids did, break apart the cards (think Bird/Magic). There is a Dodger card in the set, but apparently only 10 cards and they are cheap, so nice fun set to add. Especially since I don't buy a lot of new cards these days.

I like this one for the pose and I needed his signature still, I think,

Ah yes that Catfish Hunter card, I have one of those. Catfish didn't have very many certified autos before he passed away so there's not a ton to choose from. Between the outdated suit and the background that looks like toilet water if you're particularly dehydrated, it's so bad looking that it went all the way around and is kind of awesome.

Kind of a wide variety of stuff today. The Matt Olson auto is out of 2022 Tribute. The Vida Blue finally joins the Catfish Hunter and Dennis Eckersley cards to finish up this 2013 set for me. 2008 Finest Red Refractor Dan Meyer 05/25...this set is super tough to find, I think this is only the first or second A's card I've picked up. 2020 Topps Black Franklin Barreto 54/69 drops my needs for that set down to 7; still a ways to go but I've made a lot of progress this year. And then a random recent Bowman Chrome color auto. I can tell the card market has cooled off a bit recently because stuff like this has been easier to pick up for a fair price.

I think his 1998 Donruss Signature Significant Signatures is probably his nicest looking certified card.

Already had this, but these are just so cool. 3 card set if I recall correctly, with Brett and Bench being the other 2. I am not sure if these were actually inserted into Tombstone Pizza boxes or some sort of mail-in. Sadly, I didn't know about this promotion at the time. It seems all of the cards are obnoxiously off center, but still a cool card of a mound master.Gibson Tombstone.jpg. Added anotherGold Standard as well. Would like to finish the set, but 1 card will likely get in my way, unless i find a steal, Dave DeBusschere. He died pretty young, at 62, and in 2003 before many of the all-time greats were starting to drop, but most of these for sale (listed, didn't see if any were actually selling yet) are into the figure range. I didn't realize his autograph was so sought after. They issued 2500 of these no less, but unlike the early UD cards like Reggie, Nolan, Walter, etc...these were a "lesser" or "minor league" issue via Signature Rookies. If you got one and you don't want a fortune for it, let me know and may be your buyer. Got a bonus GU card that I didn't need, so that is cool. Would have paid the same price for just the auto, so gotta love free cards.s-l1600.jpg
