Basically they have to put in a notice 72 hours before a planned/possible strike. Well they have now put in that notice.

My advice for you guys who usually ship cards to Canada is to not do so for the time being.

Its still possible for them to hammer out an agreement, but the last thing you want is for your shipment to sit in a sorting location or PO for a week.

If its been 3 weeks I think you may have a problem other than Canada Post going on strike. It "should have" already left Canada by now so most likely the card is lost or its now in the USPS hands.

Nothing new from Canada Post since yesterday (http://clients.infopost.ca/en/). They're saying that in the event of a strike nothing will be delivered, but they'll do their best to make sure the stuff sitting in the processing facilities stays secure. Sheesh.

If they do strike, collectors like me who buy cards exclusively online will be SOL. Hopefully they'd be back to work before the May FCB BGS group sub gets shipped back to us! :?

At my local PO, they said they didn't know anything about this. Hadn't heard a thing.

Hopefully you get it. I sent a Mike Trout sterling refractor auto up there months ago and it never showed up. Well at least it didn't for 30 days because I had a paypal claim filed against me and I was out the card and $110. For all I know the guy could have got it after I refunded his money. But whatever... I'm sure it's lost.

Sending a 100 dollar + card without registering it ::facepalm::
Well in retrospect I realize it was a big mistake. I guess because I hadn't had any problems sending to Canada first class before that this time wouldn't be any different. Of course the cards I sent before were worth a lot less.... so naturally the first time it happens it was with this card.

You live and you learn.

The guy probably screwed you. Every package I send to the US that gets lost, I'm assuming that some other Canadian buyer absolutely screwed the guy and now he think's it's okay for him to screw a Canadian seller. It's funny how the only packages that get lost are either the really expensive ones or the cards under 5.00. Almost all of the claims I get are centred around eBay's fee date as well.

+1
Good year, bad year, i ship over 500 packages to the States and 'lost in mail' isn't a word i use. Some packages are slow to get thru but they all found their way. Once or twice i had to refund a buyer in the last 2 years and every time, the package show up later and the buyer repaid for it.

That being said, i don't know how much USPS workers are paid but i can tell you that they are already VERY WELL PAID in Canada, i don't understand their problem. And it sucks for the buisness!

But it's such a highly skilled profession. Add in the fact that mailing letters and bills is the only means of communication and I can see why Canada Post has us bent over on this one. Give them whatever they're asking.
