Ok this is just for fun, and not to start a debate (arguement). Say steroids where
around since 1900 and they where always legal. Who would be the all time homerun leader had everyone used them?

my guess is

Hank Aaron with 1250, but Arod would be on pass for 1400.

How do you get arod on pace for 1400 if he's been juicing for years already? I doubt he'd be hitting 70 HR/yr for 20 years.

Because I don't think he did them in Seatle, and don't think he has been for the last 2-3 years.

steroids have been around since the 50's so they all had access. other than ruth of course.

If you people don't want to answer fine, I am not looking for anything more than a fun carefree post. ::facepalm::

That makes absolutely no sense.
1400 is 70 a year for 20 straight seasons.
ARod never came close to 70 when he was on steroids, so how could he average that for 20 seasons?
And I assume by "pass" you mean "pace."
This thread is worthy of the Golden Miggy: :benson: :benson: :benson:

Dumbest thread ever?
1. How can we predict something like that?
2. 1400?? Maybe if he played till he was 60 and steroids made him play as if he was in his prime the whole time.

My guess is that Aaron would've ended up with around 700. His power was essentially equivalent to that of a pre-steroid Bonds. The only difference was that he was able to accumulate 12,000 at-bats. He would've received a mild boost from steroids but probably would've gotten injured more. Not to mention, if he actually became a HR machine, he probably would've lost a lot of at-bats to walks and therefore would've ended up with fewer at-bats. His HR numbers therefore would likely stay the same or decrease. People need to remember that, outside of 2001, Bonds' RBI and HR totals increased only moderately or did not increase at all (in the case of RBI's) after he started taking steroids. This was due to the loss of at-bats due to walks.

Thank You for a simple well spoken post that is on topic. You have been thanked.

When it comes to real power hitters like McGwire, Arod, ect.. I do not think steroids helped the HR totals from the addition of power. However, it may have kept them healthier and in better over all shape, avoiding injury perhaps. Yet, Bonds on the other hand was a great hitter with speed and enough pop to get his 25 or so HR's a year. Without the roids, you would have seen a guy with a lower average(because of less walks / more at bats) probablly less than half the HR's he had but probablly many more hits and steals. I believe without steroids, Bonds would have been a very different type of great player, where as McGwire and Arod would fundimentally the same..

On the other side of the coin, if a guy like Ripken was ever on roids, he would probablly of hit 600+ hr's. Although to play in that many games without missing a beat leads me to believe he may have been on something from time to time, but I digress..

25 HR's?

Were you alive when Bonds played?

Do the math for me. What was Bonds AB/HR ratio from 1990-1999? What was Arod's AB/HR ratio from 1996-2009? My guess is that it was around 15:1 for both of them. The only difference was that Arod played around HOF hitters, in HR friendly parks and got 600+ AB's every year while Bonds was leading the league in walks each year. I don't think you quite appreciate Bonds' production in the limited number of at-bats he had each year. There was a reason he had more intentional walks from 1991-1993 than Arod has in his entire career. There was a reason he was intentionally walked with the bases loaded in the ninth of a 2-run game before he ever hit 73 homeruns.

Alive and well, I look at Bonds time in Pit as his true playing ability.

Might Casey... easily:

The word came out from Mudville
Where Mighty Casey played
A company had bought the team
A billion's what they paid

The team would stay in Mudville
They'd only change their name
On BACO Field in Mudville
The Juiced would play their games

The new emblem looks really cool
An "X" of two syringes
With a pocket to hold needles
For those injecting binges

Now Mighty Casey came to camp
Huge as he could be
Last season he weighed 2-1-5
He now weighed 3-0-3

The games began the homeruns flew
Two teams won 99
And now there was just one game left
The pennant on the line

The outlook soon was looking bleak
With O'Reilly on the mound
A bases loaded triple
Brought three runs around

And although the Juiced would score
In the 7th on a fly
The fans began to worry
When the 8th inning went by

The top of the 9th went 1-2-3
Half an inning left to play
The score still sat at 3-1
Not much was left to say

The season looked like it was done
When Jackson took strike 3
And then Thompson followed suit
They could not hit McGee

But Martinez hit one in the gap
Took third without a slide
And when McGee beaned Stephens
The crowd, it almost died

Cuz strolling up there to the plate
As no one could deny
Was Casey Mighty Casey
With a glimmer in his eye

The pitcher wound and hurled the sphere
Like shot out from a gun
Casey looked and held his swing
The ump, he called strike one

Strike two the second one went by
The crowd groaned in alarm
Casey shook his head
And stuck a needle in his arm

The crowd now watches silently
As out there Casey stands
100 times he's hit it out
One more chance in his hands

And now the pitcher looks around
And now he takes the sign
And now he throws a bullet
Oh, the pitch looks mighty fine

Oh, somewhere in this favored land
The Sun is shining bright
The band is playing somewhere
And somewhere hearts are light

And somewhere men are laughing
About things that they've heard said
But there is no joy in Mudville
Mighty Casey has dropped dead

(or maybe not, but he'd have the single season crown.)
