I figured I would give 'ol Charlie Hustle a try TTM, and today I got it back, postmarked from Las Vegas ( ) in about 20 days:

I almost got fired from a job at a hotel because I stuck a baseball with a note asking for an autograph in Pete Rose's room. Friggin' guy comes down to the front desk with the autographed ball going, "Where's the guy who left this in my room?"...

You deserve(d) to get fired.

What did you think was going to happen? He was going to sign it and wait for you to come up to him? Not to mention, that is creepy. How would you feel if somebody left something in your room, thus taking away the whole privacy feel.

And people wonder why some (most?) athletes hate signing for people.

Lighten up, I was young and stupid and he was completely cool with it.

Thanks for the comments guys, I was surprised that I got it back. I had guessed the odds were 1:4.

sportscardtheory: Funny story, man. Did you get to keep the ball?

Oh yeah, he was really cool about it... it was just that he went to my boss to find me. The thing that sucks is, I REALLY needed money like 7 years ago and I had to sell it. :(

His stuff is pretty cheap actually.Hell...I had to pay way more for other athletes when I got stuff auto'd of theirs than I did for my rose ball and 11x15.At $35 a pop authenticated...I think it was a great buy and both have inscriptions as well.

I wish the players today played like he did!

I met said hello to Pete in Vegas but I could pull the trigger on an auto...maybe next time.

Nice stories, guys! I already have the autographed pricelist framed in my sports-room, and I think I am going to get the IC framed and matted with an 8x10, like I did with my Aaron IC. :)
