JUST MINORS PARTNERS WITH RAZOR COLLECTIBLES

Just Minors is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Razor Collectibles that will allow Just Minors to distribute Razor products on the http://www.shopjustminors.com web-site. As part of the agreement with Razor, Just Minors will phase out new product operations after Mystery Jersey 2009 (see remaining product schedule below) and will focus on sales and support of existing inventory as well as sales and development of Razor products. Some facts about this partnership:

* Was Just Minors bought by Razor Collectibles? No...Just Minors is still a privately owned company and does not share any ownership structure with Razor Collectibles.
* Is Just Minors going out of business? No...As stated above, Just Minors will continue to operate in sales and support of existing products as well as sales and development support of Razor products.
* Is this the end of new Just Minors branded products? Not necessarily...Part of the agreement between Razor and Just Minors will allow for Just Minors branded products to be initiated by Razor. It is very possible for a Just Autographs release in 2009, if Razor chooses to do so.
* When will we know more about potential 2009 Just Minors branded products...Possible products are continually being evaluated by Razor and any decisions will be announced as quickly as possible.

I found the bolded part to be interesting. I wonder what Razor products will be available online.

Does this mean that Razor may or may not allow Just Minors to produce thier Exclusive's (is it a possibility)?

Very bizarre wording.

So Razor did not buy Just Minors, but it appears that they bought the naming rights. IE: Like Upper Deck and Fleer, Upper Deck did not purchase Fleer, they purchased the name.

Regardless, it is an interesting strategic move, and I'm not sure it is positive or negative. Probably more on the negative side I would guess. It was my impression that Razor was attempting to be "above" products like Just Minors, therefore this alliance with Just Minors should devalue the perception of the Razor brand.

Right?

I do like the fact that these are without the high-gloss UV coating for IP and TTM autographs.

Seems clear cut to me. Interesting move on Just Minors part and cunning move on RAZORs part. Perhaps I underestimated RAZOR and his/there will to survive.

I think it is positive, as it gives Razor another angle on the minor league card market. I like minor league cards, as they are good for TTM and are traditionally are less expensive. It could be a boon for both in planning and marketing.

I'm tempted to buy a set. The out-of-pack Razor base set has been going for $30-50 on eBay. These are at the lower cost and they'll sign better.

Brian had discussed this on the live Card Podcast, I guess I can finally edit it today and put that up.

I think it is Great for collector's...but not so Great for prospector's (I really hope the hobby doesn't begin to relate the two company's with eachother as that could prove detrimental to my newfound investment's :? Yuck!
