funny you would mention that. I had read it before but just last night I was looking through some of my Red Sox game used stuff and the front of his 07 Bowman Heritage jersey card has it that way.

I am FAR from the biggest Drew fan in the world, but he has a WAR of 3.6 and a value of $16.3M according to Fangraphs. He ended last year with a 4.1 WAR and an $18.6M value last year. Those numbers put him in the top 45 most valuable players in the game.

Also Drew carried the Red Sox June 2008 when Papi was injured. He also had some huge hits in the last World series the Red Sox was in. I am not a fan of his, but I feel he does not get enough credit for his accomplishments

Drew received his nickname 'JD' because he goes by John, not David. Hence, John Drew or 'JD', even though the 'Drew' is redundant.

Drew is not a bad player at all. The problem is the way that he entered the league. His story should be told to every prima donna out there. No matter how good you are, or will be, you have to earn your place. Drew has done well in his career but due to the expectations he set himself (with the help and probably prodding of Boras) he will never be looked at objectively.

I agree 100%, everytime I hear his name I think about him not signing and wasting time getting to his career.

He may be a good player but when I was in ATL sitting on the first row in RF he had "0" personality. There was a young girl sitting a few seats down from my son and I and every inning he ran to RF she would stand u p holding her sign she made for him. He never once looked her way to acknowledge a fan of his. After 4-5 innings fans from both teams were yelling at him to at least acknowledge her (she never said a thing, just smiled) and he wouldn't even turn around. I personally lost alot of respect for MLB players that day. I know not all players are that way but he will never be a favorite of mine.

And he sure gets himself injured a lot for having extremely good mechanics. Maybe he doesn't stretch well or something? Who knows.

The players are just like the fans, they know his history, they see little emotion (as if JD doesn't care), and they know he is injury prone.

However, JD's 162 game average is 26 HR's, 85 RBI, and a .892 OPS. When he plays he is productive and is worth every penny.

I loved JD when he was drafted as a Cardinals and for his entire tenure.
When he went to the Braves, I thought it was the perfect fit and I wish he would have played there for his entire career. He would have been a hometown guy and put up great numbers. Why he went to 2 of the bigger market teams shows me that he is only concerned with the $$$$.

I still follow him, but he isn't the kind of player on the field that I generally like. Off the field, he is a class act and a heck of a guy.
