love the GH , would think that is more rare than Babe auto wise

+1 The gh makes it even more unique. Good price, I would think the gh makes ruth collectors want it more.

Who cares what everyone else thinks. As long as you are happy with it, that is all that matters. You got it for a pretty good price ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I really like the gh Ruth but understand others wanting one that says babe. I have not seen too many completed sales on these. How do you all feel about the price? Thanks

Yeah if someone here won a Pujols Chrome auto rc that was a bgs 8.5 i bet some would post i would rather have a 9. I think its beautiful and looks like it would look great against my favorite FCB owned card Hofmichael's Gehrig cut. Its nice and bold and as real as it gets, it does suck that there are so many forged cards vintage and modern now and even pack pulled cuts sometimes are iffy. Yours is as good as it gets. Nice price too, out of my range but i would spend that on a Ruth or Gehrig cut if i had it to spare.

Thanks for the nice response. I was surprised to not see many bidders on this auction. Good for me I guess. :D

I think you did fairly well on the price.I have had offers as high as $7500 for my Gehirg from the same set.In hindsight maybe I should have took the $7500 but I wasn't to interested in selling at that point.

Your Gehrig is one nice card. I think I got a little lucky on the price given the times. Would you mind posting a pic of the Gehrig again. Love that card. Thanks for the comments guys.

The last I followed Ruth cuts they were going no less than $4500-$5000.So I would imagine that $3500 is a really good price. Here is the pic you requested.

Very nice price. I would get it slabbed though, because it does look like the cut could be swapped out with relative ease. It will preserve it and give it an even nicer appeal than it already is.

I am still looking for the right price for a cut for 200lbhockey to make me a custom...cheapest I have found for just a cut has been around $2K and most are much higher...so to get a card for $3400, I agree, it is easily worth $1K more, and I would take some of that money you saved and slab it!

Again, Congrats!

Makes me wonder...is there a premium for a "Babe" Ruth auto over a "GH" Ruth auto? Seems a lot of folks--if given the choice--would take a Babe over a George. Without doing research, it would be interesting to know if there's a difference, price-wise. Can't go wrong either way, of course!

i have watched cuts, and have seen gh sell > babe and visa versa, usually the quality of the autograph and presentation is what is key in the price.

"GH" is Ruth's Business sig, "Babe" is his Fan sig.
"Babe" is more desirable overall for this fact alone.

For the era Ruth Personal Checks are fairly common (but nothing like High Pockets Kelly or Babe Herman checks), and Babe Ruth sigs overall (both GH and Babe) are the most common of all sigs of someone who did not live into the 1950s.

With that said, if youre happy with the item, thats all that matters, and looking at what complete checks go for now, Im very surprised!
I should have bought up dozens of them when they were low 4 fig, only a few years ago :(

Demand over Supply will keep the value up.... but I wouldnt call it a great investment because of the plentiful supply known.
Its (Ruth sigs) one of the only truly common item that holds good value IMO (2nd to the '52T Mantle)

The Positive..... its from the front of the check and is not an endorsement (back) sig (the worst), and like a couple people said a GH sig is far less likely to be forged.
Neg..... pencil GH Sig., cut, the 2nd cheapest and 2nd least desirable of all authentic Ruth sigs (back endorsement GH is the least)

PS.
Someone asked a question on this...... He does also sign George Herman "Babe" Ruth, and also George Herman Ruth, but both of them are scarce and usually on business contracts and the sort.

good story on Ruth and his common sigs (w/good photos)
