Didn't see any talk of his stat line last night...

he only went for 31 points and 31 rebounds - first time someone's gone 30 and 30 in 28 years i think.

I had no idea either. Just saw it on the Yahoo front page and read the story.
Crazy thing is they said in the article - he only had 7 points mid-way through the third qtr or something like that.

that is one of the coolest stat lines you will ever see way more impressive than a triple double in my opinion

I want to work out the details to convince myself the monster game wasn't just the product of poor shooting and no defense. I thought I would share the math here. 31 rebounds is very impressive. Let's take a look at the game stats...

Knicks Shooting: 35/92 for a whopping 38%
T'Wolves Shooting: 44/101 for 43.6%

Plus 8 missed free throws between the 2 teams...that makes for 122 total opportunities for rebounds.
That is about 25% of the total rebounds captured by Kevin Love.

Let's project that rebounding rate onto another game with more accurate shooting and at least some defense. Let's take the Pacers vs Rockets game from last night...

Houston: 39/78 for 50%
Pacers: 40/89 for 44.9%
Plus 11 total missed free throws

That game had 99 opportunities for rebounds. That projects to 25 rebounds for Love. An impressive total even in a game with a more typical stat line.

yeah I was going to say even with the large number of missed shots - 25% would be impressive regardless.
And I think his rate technically would be even higher when you take in account the shots missed during the 8 minutes he wasn't on the floor (which he wouldn't have had a chance at).

I counted 14 total rebound opportunities when Love was on the bench. So out of 108 (122-14) rebound opportunities during his 41 minutes, Love captured 31. That bumps the rate up to 28.7%

the scary thing is - im pretty sure he's averaging 25% of rebounding opportunities this season. And that's with him averaging less than 30 minutes a game.

Rodman has the record with 23.4% i think - don't know if that is career or season

My dad and uncle were at the game last night. My uncle is a season ticket holder. They said it was amazing to see in person.

Michael Beasley had a huge game for the Wolves last night too.
