The kids came back to the booth at least twice to play again.

Thanks to Coach Jay (jaymix79) who helped the kids along.

That's great to see kids having fun with the hobby and not trying to make a quick buck. Reminds me of when I was younger playing mlb showdown.

Too Funny -
Jay's youtube debut.

I'll post my ATL Card Show experience later.
Good times; just wished I wasn't rushed by a sick child.
Take care, all.

Nice vid and a nice concept, but I'm sorry, this isn't going to do anything for the hobby/industry at large.

gotta start somewhere, and kids having clean fun is always a good thing

kids retaining interest in baseball is a good thing

At the show I was thinking Gilmore + little kids = ?????

Looked like a cool game. I was about to be the guinea pig but luckily the only 2 kids at the show wanted to play.

Seems like a game that should attract kids to the hobby. When Iw as younger we made up games like this with hockey cards so hopefully it sticks.

while waiting on line to get into a card show friday, there was a guy a head of me talking about how
because of this game, his FIVE year old son knows who Walter Johnson is.

if thats not fantastic, nothing is.

Chas, if UD, DLP or any other unlicensed company put this out, you'd love it.

No, I wouldn't. Don't pretend to know who I am or what I think.

I do know, however, that you are a Topps homer. Good for you.

I also know that Topps Atttax is not automatically going to encourage kids to buy non-game Topps releases.

Not automatically no, but the product definitely does SOME good for the industry.

Looks like a great game for hobbyists of any age. Hopefully it will help to grow the hobby by reaching out to kids and their families. The 2010 Attax design looks great, as well:

Take away the game related info on the bottom, put some stats and a player bio and/or highlight on the reverse, and Topps would have a very nice base set.

Yah some of those foil cards look sharp.

But yah, I don't know if this translates into buying cards that're just cards.

Topps would do well to implement extra internet codes on every low-priced release. It shouldn't just be Attax, but rather OPENING DAY and what not, come with a code on the reverse, that allows you to do...something.

Seriously, while you have your baseball players sitting down to sign autographs -- Ask them some questions and throw it on the website as bonus coverage that you can only unlock with a pin on the reverse.

So many different ideas to bring the internet into play.

Why hasn't anyone called this what it really is?

A gateway drug.

Start the kids with something harmless like Attax. Then in a couple years they move onto a box of regular Topps. Next a box or 2 of a higher end product, and before you know it they are ripping cases of Bowman Chrome. Selling their blood just to have money for the next product that is coming out.

Cards = Crack.

;)
