I'll definately be watching that...Just want to see him get dominated on the ground. Also when does the season start?

I think it starts in Sept. At least he's trying to get back the right way. I'll give him some respect for that. We don't know how hard he's been working though either. If the same old Kimbo shows up he'll be bounced after the first fight.

He could get lucky and just nail the **** out of someone but I don't think he'll have the effort it takes to be a true MMA fighter instead of a street fighter.

This pisses me off. And MORE now that I hear he doesn`t have to fight his way into the house. I doubt I even watch this **** witg Rampage, Rashad AND Kimbo. Page and Shad was bad enough to begin with. Only thing I would want to see is spinal fluid coming out of Kimbos nose. God I hate all 3 of them.

I wonder if there are even enough decent HW prospects to get 32 so you can have a fight to get in option. I think everyone can agree that HW is the UFC's thinnest division and its really hard to get legit HWs that are good. From my knowledge there are 3 guys from the HW side of TUF 1 that are still relevant, Rashad, Jardine and Whitehead. All have them have dropped to 205. I bet the UFC has tried ever since then to have another TUF with HWs without success.

Part of me thinks this is almost a ploy by Dana to embarrass Kimbo. With all the **** he has talked about him I don't see how he can actually want him as part of the roster. I'm sure he will draw HUGE ratings and if he gets beat early Dana can laugh at him. If somehow he manages to win, then he has somewhat legitimizes himself and the UFC has another huge draw.

I will be pretty interested to see if he gets a fight in the UFC if he doesn't win.

I think as long as he wins at least 1 fight on the show he'll fight on Fight Night or a PPV. You always see fighters that have lost on the show fight on fight night.

While this is usually true Dana has come out bashing him MANY times and clearly doesn't think he is UFC material. Because of this, unless Kimbo is willing to take a HUGE paycut it might not happen. Unless Dana is alright with looking like an absolute tool and completely eating his words there is no way pay him like 8K/8K to either open a PPV or Fight Night. I'm really interested to see what happens regardless.

Dana has always maintained that he would not give Kimbo a free ride to the UFC and he would have to go through TUF. Everyone scoffed at that and then he lost to a scrub and has no bidders right now. This is a win win for Dana and the UFC.

People scoffed at that because everyone thought that Kimbo would never go for actually having to work for something after having everything handed to him. Dana did always say he would have to go the TUF route.....among other profane things about Kimbo, lol. I am just interested in how all of this REALLY went down. I don`t really care for Lashley, but I would have much rather seen him on TUF than Kimbo. With his age, and ability, he has way more upside for the UFC long term. This Kimbo thing is just a carnival attraction and I am disappointed in Dana for going through with it after all he has said. But I am not REALLY surprised. I just hate Kimbo.

I hate Kimbo as much as you. I think what happened is that Kimbo was exposed for what he really was. An internet phenom that was put in the spotlight by some shady promoters with no real skill or talent. Now he has no takers and he knows that if he wants to do this TUF is the only way. I also wouldn't past Dana to just prove his point about Kimbo all along by putting him on TUF. Honestly even though you hate the coaches and Kimbo you know you're going to watch next season.

The Kimbo situation is one that makes me mad for alot of reasons

1) People knock Kimbo for being a "street fighter". So what? Theres so many one or two dimensional guys in the UFC like Liddell with his striking and sprawling/Couture and his wrestling/Hughes and his wrestling and ground game/Lesnar and his power and striking/etc). The guy tried to make a name for himself by fighting in EXC and got a nice payoff for it. Like you wouldnt do the same?

2) Kimbo has tried to be someone other people (especially kids, who are the future of MMA) can look up to and be a role model and example for. Someone who came from poverty and was able to become something.

3) People like Jose Canseco can fight, and people laugh it off. When a guy like Kimbo fights, people say they hate him and he's bad for the sport. WTF? Seriously, youre gonna say that Jose Canseco, who is broke and clinging to his last 5 minutes is better for MMA than a guy who is legitimately training and trying?

4) Dana White is a hypocrit at many levels...not just with Kimbo, but with others as well. He talks alot and when it comes down to it, he would let Kimbo fight on a PPV because it's ratings--and that is what Dana wants. "I'll never let Chuck fight again on my card." Isnt there already talks of another fight with Chuck and UFC?

5) People overblow the loss to Petruzelli. Imagine training to fight a submissions guy like Shamrock, then having to fight a light heavyweight striker on the last minute. Kimbo tried to do the right thing and perform for the fans that probably paid decent money to watch him, and not to let everyone down. Think it's so easy when youve spent months preparing for one style, and then have to adapt in 4 hours to a new one? Not everyone is named Fedor...

6) For years, guys like Tito ******* and complained that "MMA doesnt have any attention"..."why doesnt anyone watch?"..."what can we do to get noticed?"....but, when a guy who attracts millions of viewers to MMA and finally gets people to watch, those same people who begged earlier for that attention are now saying he's bad for the sport and business? You cannot honestly say there is not some level of competitivness/jealously amongst those people.

7) EliteXC was a poorly run company. They broke the #1 business rule: never put your eggs in one basket. Its not Kimbo's fault they banked 30million dollars on him without being able to have a decent way to back themselves up should he lose.

...these are just a few reasons.

I have a pro Kimbo attitude, as you can tell.

You`re probably right. I watch any MMA I can find on television. I will hate myself for it though, haha.

People were mocking Kimbo because there were a lot of people who thought he was the **** because of what they saw on youtube. They thought he was actually fighting "real fighters" in those clips. I agree with you that it wasn't his fault. Elite XC was as shady as it gets.

2) Kimbo has tried to be someone other people (especially kids, who are the future of MMA) can look up to and be a role model and example for. Someone who came from poverty and was able to become something.
Really? Starting out as a bouncer for **** producers is not trying to be something kids look up to[/b]

3) People like Jose Canseco can fight, and people laugh it off. When a guy like Kimbo fights, people say they hate him and he's bad for the sport. WTF? Kimbo himself wasn't bad for the sport. It was the way he was marketed and hyped was bad. Honestly having his fight as the main event for the first nationally televised MMA bought was bad for the sport.

4) Dana White is a hypocrit at many levels...not just with Kimbo, but with others as well. He talks alot and when it comes down to it, he would let Kimbo fight on a PPV because it's ratings--and that is what Dana wants. "I'll never let Chuck fight again on my card." Dana maybe a hypocrite but he's one of the brightest young minds in sports today. If you have to be a hypocrite to do that and sell more tickets than so be it. He's actually standing by his words. He always said that if Kimbo wanted to be in the UFC he would have to go through TUF first.

That loss can't be overblown enough. Shamrock to Petrizelli is a HUGE downgrade not to mention that he weighed 30lbs less than Shamrock. In fact Petrizelli was a much better fight for Kimbo. It's striker on striker. Please, that left hand jab that downed Kimbo was ridiculous

I agree with you on this one.

7) EliteXC was a poorly run company. They broke the #1 business rule: never put your eggs in one basket. Its not Kimbo's fault they banked 30million dollars on him without being able to have a decent way to back themselves up should he lose.

Agreed

...these are just a few reasons.

I'm not anti Kimbo I just didn't like the way he was hyped and promoted. Bottom line is those aspects of Kimbo were bad for the sport.

I think we can all agree that Elite XC and Kimbo's "handlers" completely mismanaged him in the sense they hyped him up to be something he wasn't close to. I've never heard him come out and say he's a top guy and he should fight top competition. Like it was mentioned before Elite XC put all their eggs in one basket and hyped the hell out of Kimbo the personality rather than being concerned with Kimbo the fighter.

Also can we get away from the Petruzelli fight. He's anything from a terrible fighter wouldnt at all be surprised if the actual weight of the fighters when they were in the cage was much closer than 30 Lbs. Look at Petruzelli's loses. He's had 4 and 3 of them came against Wilson Gouviea, Matt Hammill, and Gan McGee. Gouviea and Hammill are borderline top 10 LHWs in the UFC and McGee is a 6'10 giant who has fought for the UFC HW belt before. He's also a pretty big LHW who spent the first part of his career as a HW and I believe was on TUF as a HW. While it was a bad way to lose I certainly wouldn't be ashamed to lose to Seth.

Regardless lets just agree that from a business standpoint this is GREAT for the UFC. Regardless of how he preforms this season will get great ratings because of him. If he actually turns out to be something half way decent they now have another huge selling fighter.

You know what, it really isn't KIMBO that pisses me off so much.

It's his ignorant ass fanboy nuthugger fans who know nothing about MMA who pump him up and act like he's the God of all Gods because they seen him on YouTube beating up people who have no business fighting.

The same damn people who have 13 TapOut shirts in their closet and wear one everyday

These people piss me off to no end. Just the casual dickwads who have no clue what they are talking about.

I mean, if they did, why in the Hell would they even think Kimbo is even relevent in MMA whatsoever, or wear the douchie TapOut stuff.

Everyone and their neice has TapOut shirts and hats, and it makes me want to barf. Have never owned, and will never own anything TapOut.

Only reason I have any Affliction stuff is to support FIGHTERS and not to just rock Affliction.

If there were Bugel Boy Fedor or GSP shirts, I would have them too.

People wearing TapOut and Affliction who don't actually do MMA may be the single most annoying thing ever.

The same thing could be said about people wearing sports jerseys who aren't pro athletes then too I guess.

I think it's okay to show support for certain fighters, if it's a fighter sponsored shirt, really no matter what brand it is. I only wear my Fedor and GSP Affliction shirts when they are fighting. I don't wear them all over town.

And I am going to buy a Death Clutch Lesnar shirt to wear to the UFC 100 party. But the only time I will ever wear it is when he fights.

I just get pissed when I go out and you see the same damn people every single night in a different TapOut shirt just because they think that it's cool. It isn't.

Actually Chuck has a good ground game, we just never see it.

Also, Petruccelli or whatever his name was, was a grappler that Elite told they'd pay him extra to stand with Kimbo. That worked out nicely... lol

Should be interesting to see Kimbo on TUF. If you've never seen the YouTube video of Kimbo tackling some random guy they paid $100 it's a great watch.
