...but did anyone even notice?

the city of Kansas City has a beautiful new arena the Sprint Center which hosted it's second NHL preseason game last night between the Kings and the Islanders but the game only drew 9,792 fans. KC was one of the cities the Penguins were looking at to relocate to when they were trying to get an arena deal done with the city of Pittsburgh. Islanders owner Charles **** has said KC is one of the options for the Isles if they don't get approval for their proposed $3.8 billion development project that would include renovating the Nassau Coliseum by October 3rd. I don't understand why a team would move to KC if they can't draw more then 9,792 fans for a game?

Yeah, we had an exhibition game up here in Everett, WA between Phoenix and Tampa...pulled in about 7,200 out of about 8,000 the place holds...

...now granted it was Phoenix and Tampa. And it wasn't in Seattle...

...but we still need a damn NHL team here in Seattle!!!!

I agree that it was a game between two pretty bad teams but Kansas City has been trying to get an NHL team for about 4 years. they made a very aggressive push for the Penguins and have tried with the Islanders. they claim they can support and NHL franchise yet they can't draw a bigger crowd for a team they are trying to get to move there.

as much as I would hate to see another NHL team move the only solid choices seem to be Canadian cities or returning to Hartford.

I live in KC and didn't go. Tavares didn't even show up, and it's 2 teams that nobody in this area could name anyone, last year for the kings and blues drew around 12-14k. There is an independent league team starting this year who makes their home about 30 minutes from sprint center. seeing how they do will probably make a more accurate gauge of how hockey in KC will do.....just my .02

Move three teams to: Winnipeg, Quebec City, and Hamilton. None of this KC stuff....no offense :)
