I pose this question to you. I've been saying I thought Orton was underrated coming into this season, and he's had a Pro Bowl caliber season thus far.

Is Kyle Orton the real deal?

Or is Orton going through Derek Anderson Syndrome? Anderson was crap in Baltimore, but exploded in 07 for the Browns, then fell back down the crapper.

I think he's comparable to Chad Pennington, doesn't have a big arm and isn't flashy, but gets the job done most of the time.

Depends what you mean by "real deal".

It's funny because I was going to say he is more a game- manager, so the response above is pretty much what I was thinking. He won quite a few games in Chicago....so is he a legitimate starting quarterback? At this point I'd say so, but I wouldn't bet on a ton (if any) Pro Bowls at any point in the future.

I basically mean a legitimate starting quarterback, and not somebody who won't be constantly questioned and fighting for his job.

Hell yes he is a legitimate starting QB. HE did the same for the bears before he got hurt. He was a top 5 qb to start last year!

Good QB.

People undervalue guys that just get it done for 'stats' guys.

It's amazing to me how much more name recognition is in determining public perception of a player instead of actual performance.

I think he is definitely legitimate. He was at Purdue and in Chicago. He led Purdue to a top 5 ranking before the wheels fell off and posted a winning record in Chicago whenever he started (without a superstar WR). I don't understand why he never gets respect. Granted, he is no Manning, Brady, or Brees...but certainly a guy who can win some games. I think he does have a strong arm and sees the field pretty well. He's not going to be breaking any records, but it would be sweet if he led the Broncos to the playoffs and the Bears missed them! Bottom line, he is not a one season wonder. He has been doing this for years...

Too early to tell. He has done better than Anderson already though. Good enough to be their starter, but dont crown him yet.

2nd time he has been a starter and 2nd time he has had success. Granted both teams had good/very good defenses. I think he's the real deal.

I never understood why he never got a fair shake in Chicago. He basically only played if someone was hurt. He's a for sure legit starter, but I'm not sold on him being elite or anything. You never know though. He's had very little experience to gain confidence and skills in game action. It's possible he becomes an off and on pro bowler.

Not great at anything. Game manager. Trent Dilfer junior. He is not the story in Denver, teh defense is. He barely beat out Chris Simms in the preseason. The Broncos will crash to earth, and it will be more horrific than last year.
