I was all for the season-long suspension after watching those events unfold live.
That being said, I don't think it's a horrible idea to allow someone to atone. I just hope that if there is a chance at a second chance that there are firm and demanding conditions that have to be met.....so he really has to earn his way back.

Oregon's athletic department made a ruling, they should stick by it. For the season is for the entire season.

If they wanted to do this, they should have just ruled "We are going to suspend him until the bad PR goes away, then he's back on the field!"

The punishment was ridiculous in the first place. It was insane to essentially ruin the kids career/life because he got goaded into throwing a punch.

Suspended indefinitely was the way they should have went. Then they could re-visit the situation later on down the line. However, they pleased the knee-jerk reaction people with their full season suspension. Now they just look foolish, IMO.

I think the punishment fit the crime. I think he would have only been suspended a few games for the first hit, but he deserved the full season for what took place afterwards. He is a punk and needs to learn the hard way that his actions come with consequences, everyone needs to learn to stop giving in to these punks just because they are athletes. He needs to grow up, work his butt off and try to impress the scouts at the combines. I'm pretty sure given his past performance that some team will give him a chance.
