Looking over the Indians offensive stats, they have a big gaping hole in LF and LaPorta is flat out raking. Anybody want to venture to guess a call-up date? I'm thinking mid-May if he keeps it up, and maybe a line of .270 average with 27-31 home runs by the end of the year. ROY maybe? (only because Wieters and Price haven't looked so good lately)

Given that they traded a true ace for him, I don't expect them to leave him in AAA long the way he is hitting. He has little to nothing left to prove, should be up within a month IMO.

His prices were dirt cheap this winter. Wish I had bought more.

I had a lot from last year, sold some, then rebought a few more, but not nearly enough, so I'm left wishing as well. Only have like 5 sterlings left.

I've got 2 Elite Autos /50 right now, but no sterling. Anyone have any idea how high those could go if LaPorta has a Braun-like rookie year? $400+ I'm guessing?

I don't really follow his elite stuff, I would say it depends on what they are at now. $300+ is easily attainable though IMO with a year like that. But keep in mind the Indians do kind of suck, so that hurts the value a little.

True, but I've been thinking that Milwaukee isn't much better in terms or cards.

LaPorta is one of those guys who I wasn't ballsy enough to buy way into. I've got this and some other low end stuff:

LaPorta will have a chance if they keep Snider batting 9th.

Snider is doing well, but isn't playing everyday and I think LaPorta would have a greater impact over the course of the season. Plus, I don't think Snider will top 20 home runs this year. Maybe 22 at the max.

How can you say this.... when LaPorta has not proven anything at the major league level....

I'm going by projection here. Using his current stats, past stats, comparable player list, etc., I would expect a 24 year old with LaPorta's talent to be better than what Snider has been doing thus far and will likely do in the coming months. LaPorta would probably hit in the #5 or #6 spot, play every day, hit in the .280-.290 range with 25+ home runs if he got 450+ plate appearances with the Indians. I don't see Snider pulling that off this year, who also really hasn't proven anything if by proven we mean a long term history of success. I know a lot of people scoff at projections and say you can't pull anything from minor league numbers, but the Bill James era has shown that minor league to major league translations are a very real part of the game, and something that the Indians front office is very much aware of right now.

Valid points, thanks for atleast answering me :) I think Snider will be a great hitter at the major league level, true LaPorta might be a more developed hitter when he first comes up... but like you said he has what 4 years on Snider?.

That's definitely true. I'm not saying Snider is inferior to LaPorta, just that at this moment LaPorta probably has enough talent for his age to be a better player immediately. 4 or 5 years from now who knows.
