(Yes it's a slow news day)
A Cincinnati Reds baseball player was cited for driving on a suspended license after Scottsdale police pulled him over for stopping at a green light, police said.
Police pulled over Reds outfielder Laynce Nix, 29, on March 10 because he was stopped at a green light for at least 15 seconds at Scottsdale Road and Butherus Drive, Scottsdale police said..
Nix, who is in the Valley for spring training, told the officer that he didn't realize the light had turned green because he was looking down at his phone.
A check of Nix's Texas driver's license revealed that it had been suspended after Nix failed to appear on a traffic offense from Dec. 23, 2003, police said. Nix told the officer that he didn't remember getting the ticket. Nix's Chevrolet Impala rental car was impounded for 30 days, police said. Nix was cited for driving on a suspended driver's license and failure to obey a traffic control device.
