In fairness, there's more to his signature than some of the young guys signing today that aren't icons of thier sport. I'm not arguing, but I'd cut Ali some slack if you put it into persepctive. Compared to Lincecum or Chris Sale, Ali's 'graph looks like John Hancock's...

I'm not quoting to bash by any means. I just want to point out the two words above in both posts...there is a HUGE difference between the meaning of SHOW versus the meaning of TAKES in that context. Of course it doesn't TAKE character to create any auto bad or good, but it definitely SHOWS character that Ali even considers taking the time and effort to even follow through for his fans. Just my two cents and no harm towards Jeff nor the OP...just wanted to call out the difference for those who choose to read and base opinion on posts

BG did you try and get Don King or does Ali not want anything to do with him. He would be a good auto in metal. But knowing Don King I'm sure he would think his auto is gold and would want big $$$ to sign.

Leaf got the exclusive Ali license...and it included zero breaks in price per signature.

I would imagine that Ali is the most expensive living athlete signature, if not the most expensive, he's close to the top.

2) It doesn't take character to accept money for one's signature. PLenty of older players do it for Topps, UD, and Panini. It's smart to make as much as you can for signing your name. But character? No... Character and accepting money typically don't go hand in hand.

You'd have to have access to his medical records or know the guy and have him tell you. I've asked one of the neurologists I work with, he said it appears to be Parkinsons and he doesn't have a lot of time left.
