This is phenomenal. It's already at $7,000 with 6 days left. Can't wait to see how much this one goes for.

It'll go up a lot... I can't remember what they used to sell for, but for some reason the number $13,000 comes to mind.

That card will close at over $15,000. Not ony do they not come available often, but they also usually go into a personal collection never to come out again. Now might be the time for my son to move his Ultimate Patch RC Lebron /25. He only has $100 in it, or better yet we only have $100 in it since he pulled it out of a pack

Is this the most valuable modern card?

One of them, yes, but there are more valuable ones, such as his gold exquisite auto patch /23

reyes7- the plainness of it makes it so great... that's why so many people love the 03-04 exquisite set, it's simple.

Are you sure his Gold outsells the base?

Yes... why wouldn't it? It's the exact same thing except on a lower print run. Kutzy, I know you used to do basketball, so I thought you would know this? Gold exquisite always sells more than the plain ones. It works the same for Luther Head as it does LeBron James :D

That is aboslutely not true at all. It is a parallel of a rookie, not a true rookie. Even moreso for the guys with higher print runs. #/33, #/50, etc. Do not always sell for more than #/99 or #/225.

In Luthers instance, its a no brainer. #/4 vs. #/225.

When was the last reported sell of a #/23 Lebron? I am very interested to see the difference.

Also, I would like to note I have never paid attention to Exquisite gold rookies. Never looked it up before once in my life.

The /23 has ALWAYS outsold the regular version in 03-04. In basketball, unlike in hockey, the collectors want the parallel versions. The "true" rc argument really holds no wait for basketball, in a lot of other sports, especially hockey it does.

BTW the only high # guys are like Mike Sweeny from that set, and well he sucks and doesn't sell period.

Also all the /99 guys, over the years have very low jersey numbers. Gay is /22, marvin /24, Deron /8, Roy /7, Bosh /4, Wade /3, Carmelo /15, Lebron /23, Deng /7, Gordon /7 etc etc.

Keep in mind, though, the set collector thing is an issue. People build the regular set way more frequently than the gold set. It's not a true RC issue, it's a set building issue. An example from football is 2005 SPA...Garrett Mills had a very limited base auto, and it sold for like $75. His gold /25 sold for like $10.

The first year of exquisite is where all the big money collectors were at. They build everything from gold set to parallel sets. Money was no issue for them. I am 100% Confident that the /23 has always sold more. I just confirmed with a friend, who has watched and been involved with both sets, including building them and selling them. He told me the /23 used to sell around double, the margin might have closed but the /23 still sells more.

Why the MLBPA doesn't see how a product like this featuring first year baseball players couldn't help the hobby out, I'll never know. Actually I do, money.

UD made 07 exquisite baseball, wasn't received well. It also wasn't done as well.

That's the reason why it failed.
