almost 4 steps without the ball all the time? I rarely watch
baskets much but its very obvious to me

He had a travel called on him last night.

They all do it though. From Lebron, to Kobe, to Earl Boykins. Everyone in the NBA travels. I used to care, but the rules on traveling/carrying the ball are fairly consistent for everyone (unlike fouls). I don't think it really hurts the game or would really benefit the game if they started calling travels more frequently.

It seemed like they were focusing more on it for a while. I saw more calls for turning the ball over while dribbling for a while, they the refs lost interest in enforcing it.

I actually probably find it more annoying when he simply puts his head down and barrels through defenders.
No matter what he seems to get the call. I'm not even sure why he bothers to do anything else, because it's virtually impossible to defend.
Maybe it's silly to care about that, as it could be the "correct" interpretation of the rule. It just seems wrong though when he's the one that is initiating all the contact. It's one thing to turn the corner and get hacked or get fouled going up for the shot.....but when you get rewarded for making a B line to the rim like a fullback it's a bit annoying to watch (at least to me).

I just want to make sure you also include Wade, Kobe, Pierce, Rose and the rest of the stars of the NBA that attack the basket, fall to the ground like they were shot, and always get the call. Just because Lebron is bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone in the NBA I don't think it's fair to hold it against him when he becomes the wrecking ball instead of falling to the ground.

This is my thought on basketball. It was my favorite sport to play growing up, and it's #1 here in NC. That said, the original rules of the game, and the overall nature of the game is so different now that it's barely the same game. Unlike the other major sports, basketball has allowed slight bending of the rules to the point the game can't be properly refereed.

Was the game more boring? Yes, but the rules made it obvious to ref. If things went back to the original rules you wouldn't be able to barrel down the lane, because it would take too many steps.

All of this ends up damaging the ability to fairly call games. Since guys are allowed to travel then it makes it impossible to guard, and in turn too dependent on refereeing.

If a player from the 1st season of the NBA was brought in to play now (assuming he didn't age), he wouldn't know what was going on. The game, and the rules are completely different. However, bring in a guy from the beginning of baseball, and he would still know exactly how to play.

That's the heart of the problem. Poor enforcement of the rules by the game itself thinking highlights sell.

Well if Rose is in that group it's only recently. Rose not getting foul calls has been a topic of discussion in Chicago for quite some time. Part of it has not been getting calls like other "superstars", but part of it is also the body control Rose has in the air - where often times he contorts his body in ways that avoids the contact.
Like I said - maybe that is changing - he may be getting more "superstar" calls, as he already has almost as many free-throws this year as he did all last year......but he's still 14th despite attacking the basket as much as anybody (and a lot of those are also end of game situation FT's).

Either way - the answer would be yes. Any player that is border-line out of control and gets the call no matter would be annoying to me.
