Honestly pitching is everything....don't tell me going into the playoffs that the Giants had the best offense. ;)

Pitching > Hitting

Phillies easily have the best staff going into 2011 though. Should be an interesting season
I am so excited now. I want to watch the four game series Giants vs Phillies

I think they stack up pretty even.
Lincecum vs Halladay (even)
Cain vs Lee (even, yess bite me and check the stats)
Sanchez vs Oswalt (I'll give it to Oswalt, but not by much)
Bumgarner vs Hamels (Even again)

Buut of course phillies offense > giants offense

This is pure insanity.[/quote:2drsthnj]

MAdison Bumgarner upcoming star and will broke in this season as 20
SAnchez finally put his tools together and possibly the nastiest left handed pitcher in the NL 27
Then there is the former xy young winner barry zito..

and we'll see who comes up from the farm system (Zack wheeler?)-Heck the rotation who won the WS in 2010 all came t hrough the Giants farm system (homegrown)

Nastiest lefty in the NL, his name is Kershaw.
That is why Kershaw leads the MLB in H/9 and lead all LHSP with K/9

Agreed. Names aren't everything..Giants all season and post season were the underdogs and still are. I like it.

I can't believe I'm even getting into this. Please, show any statistic that pits Sanchez anywhere close to Oswalt's level. Sanchez has had one season where he was an above average pitcher. One. 2010. Roy Oswalt has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for a decade. He averages 4.5 WAR. Sanchez's best season is 3.6. They are not in the same stratosphere.

Bumgarner, while full of potential, has 120 career innings. About half a season.

Thank you so much for seeing what I see. Also, Kershaw sub 3.00 ERA, 200+ strikeouts, 200+ innings, more strikeouts than innings pitched and was 22 years old.

The Giants lead the majors in ERA last year...the Giants also get the edge in bullpen since they have 2 good set-up men maybe 3 if you can count Affeldt or Romo whichever one you don't have as the 2nd set-up man.

Oswalt had a career year at 32! That shows that it is likely just a fluke season and he will return to 09 form...if he doesn't feel free to laugh at me.

Oswalt's 09 was better than Sanchez average year. Not really sure what your point is here.

2010 was Oswalt's 4th best season behind his age 24, 27, and 29 seasons. 2009 was his outlier. It was, by far, his worst statistical season ever. How is that his 'form'? That's beyond dumb.

OK it appears that this little debate is not going anywhere so I will end it with

Sanchez > Kershaw in all shape and form
Lincecum > Halladay
Cain > Lee
Bumgarner > Hamels
Zito > Oswalt
Giants will automatically win the 2011 World Series because every team forfits
Barry Bonds did not do steroids
Mark Prior will win the AL Cy Young for the Yanks
Buster Posey will hit 67 homeruns, winning the Triple Crown
Oranges > Apples
Willie Mays will play Center Field for the 2011 Giants, facing the outfield wall because he is that good
Tim Lincecum will become our next president, pushing a huge tax increase on everyone who is not a SF Giant fan
Pepsi > Coke
This thread has got way off topic
Pat Vanditte will be the first pitcher ever to throw 2 pitches at the same time and will set the record for most times striking out an opposing batter twice in one at bat

[/thread]
