Not to correct you too much Scotty, but the only reason Lincy would run for President is to finally get marijuana legalized.

Yes that too, but I assumed that was a given...

and BTW, I haven't seen Johan Santana listed as the best lefty in the NL, which IMHO, he still is.

I love how the Giants fans come out of the woodwork after winning the WS this last year. I am predicting that they miss the playoffs altogether in 2011 never mind compete for any more titles. That was the worst team that I have ever seen win a WS. To the Phillies fans: Congrats on Lee and thanks for keeping him out of NY :D .

You really think there is a better team in the NL West...

It's simple, pitching wins championships as demonstrated this season. We actually had success in 09 but had a couple misisng pieces. Our GM successfully filled those holes in 2010. I am not saying Giants are gonna repeat (easily) or has the best chances to win...but you can't deny that they are a threat in 2011...

Yes I think the phillies have the best bet. I thought this for 09 and 10 season and now 11 season haha

PS The west is actually good in sports and now the east coast bias is getting all butt hurt. GO DUCKS

Lee = OVERRATED!

He's been in the majors for 9 years, and only twice has won more than 14 games. In the last 5 years, he had one terrific Cy Young season; in the 4 years wrapped around that one, he was 45-41, and his teams were a combined 54-57 in his 111 starts. He's given up more than a hit an inning for his career, and minus his Cy Young season his career ERA is over 4.00.

He takes his game to another level in the playoffs.

The Giants barely made the playoffs last year and their lineup is not any better than it was last year. They obviously have good pitching, but if that is all it took then the 2010 Mariners would have been unstoppable. I think their lack of offense will result in a different team winning that division and San Francisco missing the playoffs. My Cubs are garbage and they will run out a more potent offense than San Francisco will next year.

Who's come out of the woodwork? I see the same Giants fans that were here last season when they were .500.

""""(Giants) That was the worst team that I have ever seen win a WS.""" WTF?
::facepalm:: :benson: :lol:
......almost like when Berra said, "No one goes to that restaurant anymore, its too crowded!"

The difference between the Giants of 2010 and 2011

Posey all year
Lincecum should be back to old self
Cain is coming into his own as a top NL starter
Bumgarner will only get better too
Wilson is Wilson, and will be there at the end, and the rest of the pen is top notch too
Sanchez had the lowest batting average against him last year, if he can ever get it all together, who knows.

Zito will always be the weak link though.... it will be interesting :)

Lol, they had the 2nd best record in the NL...they needed to lose 2 games to miss the playoffs...they didn't and they won the World Series. I would love to see your Cubs back that up this year the Giants offense didn't get much worse. It probably got better depending on how Belt and Sandoval do. We also get a FULL year in the majors with Posey.

Posey all year: Maybe the sophomore slump gets to him? Other than other-wordly July his numbers weren't incredible
Cain: I think Cain is amazing but I don't see him improving much more as he is already really good.
Bumgarner: Maybe sophomore slump gets to him? Has only pitched like 120 or so innings.
Sanchez: Command issues you know?

Not saying the Giants are going to be worse, just not saying that they are guaranteed to be better.

He definitely does... 0-2 with a 6.94 ERA in the 2010 World Series, other than that he has been good though.

So .305 as a catcher isn't good? He doesn't need to be incredible just be a solid force in their line-up like last year. He wasn't incredible, incredible is hitting .350 with 35+ homers 100+ RBIs

I can't believe I'm even getting into this. Please, show any statistic that pits Sanchez anywhere close to Oswalt's level. Sanchez has had one season where he was an above average pitcher. One. 2010. Roy Oswalt has been one of the best pitchers in baseball for a decade. He averages 4.5 WAR. Sanchez's best season is 3.6. They are not in the same stratosphere.

Bumgarner, while full of potential, has 120 career innings. About half a season.

You said it yourself bud. Don't waste your time with the Giants fans. They have WS goggles on right now.

The Halladay/Lincecum being even gave me a chuckle. Lincecum is good and downright nasty at times, but I would take Doc 10 times out of 10 over ANYONE in MLB today.

Cain is very underrated but he is not on the same level as Cliff Lee.

Oswalt SLIGHTLY over Sanchez...LMAO. Sigh...

And how about we let Madison Bumgarner pitch a full season before we say he's even with Cole Hamels.

Why don't you look at the playoff and regular season numbers for Cain...compare that to Lee, can you say Lee is overrated?

I don't think the Giants fans are "coming out of the woodwork", look at the join dates and post counts, some of us have been around awhile. But the Giants haters have come out in full force.

As far as the Giants being "the worst team to ever win", think about this, 9th best September in history, 150+ yeas, by a pitching staff, best record in baseball in the second half, rookie of the year, 4 players in the MVP voting, 2 players in the Cy Young voting, most HR in the NL in the second half, 2nd best record in the NL, and the best ERA in baseball. Such a terrible team to have won it all. My question is who should have won?
