Wow...I thought Dixon would be the man. If they go Leftwich over Dixon, somebody better slap Tomlin.

I don't know man, Dixon had about 10 plays out of the playbook he was ready for last year in the Ratbirds game, and yes he did a great job with what he had, but I think people make waaaaaaaaaay too much out of his 1 game. I don't have a problem with it.

The reason Leftwich was with the 1st team is because they wanted him to get reunited with the playbook and the terminology. I fully expect it to be an open competition for the starting job in training camp.

The reason I say go with Dixon is because you have a young guy who played fairly well that you give a change to get some experience with for the future. He's got a change to perform well enough that you don't have to worry about a backup in the future should Ben get hurt or be found in a Roman **** down the road. Heck, you might even find he'd be good trade bait.

It's funny how Roethleisberger is the perfect synthesis of Dixon and Leftwich. I think you have to go with Leftwich as it'll allow you to keep a fairly similar offense.

I am happy with both. I will say Leftwich when he played threw darts man. The one pass against Washington in 2008 that won the game for a TD was a rope as he was getting hit that I am pretty sure Roethlisberger does not make because he would not stay in the pocket long enough. Leftwich does not have many miles on his body and I think there will not be much drop off the 1st 4 games. He also loves the dump pass(noticed in the game he played in 08). Any dumps to Mendy will be a good thing

Good thing we don't have Davenport here anymore, he knows all about the dumps!!!
Davenport is the best RB Pittsburgh ever had

Come on, the dude chased down his stolen car and beat the man who stole it. That's a beast.

I'll take Leftwich all day. Dixon did decent in one game. Does anyone remember how well Leftwich did in 2008? If we had him last year to sub for Ben when he was injured we would've made the playoffs...

Based on the dumps comment, I'm thinking someone enjoyed Davenport's Miami days.

Still, to this day, whenever I read anything about Davenport I immediately revert to the joy that I felt when I heard that he broke into his ex-girlfriends place and took a power-dump in her hamper.

What was the nickname they gave him again?

The Packers called him Deuce, and the Steelers also used Dookie when they weren't calling him Dumptruck
