The only thing I would say is that while I'm happy for any guy that is going to earn $254 million to play a game, in the long run I think Pujols may learn that his legacy was worth more than they extra millions.
To stay on topic, I only own a charity autograph that I got at the stadium by chance for $25. I would NOT be selling right now. I made lots of money on Pujols from 2003-2006 and wish I had all the cards back. I would NOT be selling right now.
He'll be a HOFer with a Cardinals hat. He'll have his number retired as a Cardinals player and will end up being loved by most. But, other than the milestone achievements, I have a feeling his Angel days will be a huge dissapointment for him, the Angels, and their fans.
Enjoy the next 3-5 years while you can.

Legacy doesn't put food on the table for his great great great great great great great great great great great great grandchildren.
I like how "said Cardinals fan" starts with "None of us are mad" and ends with "Enjoy the next 3-5 years while you can".Adamsince1981 said:I'm an intelligent fan and 99% of my friends are as well. None of us are mad.

Nobody knows which hat he'll wear when he enters the hall of fame. That is decided by the HOF. What I do know is that Albert will more than likely hit homer # 500 and possibly 600, 700 and if Angels fans are lucky, homer # 763 will be in an angel uniform. If this happens along with at least one World Series, there is no guarantee that Albert will be wearing a cards hat. Guess we'll find out in about 10-15 years, though.
Edit: And to keep this on topic, the seller also gave away the retrofractor for $75 as well. ::facepalm::
My opinion that 5-7 years of this contract will be purely an overpay or a bust would also lead to me, as a Cardinals fan, not being mad that he left. Especially when you consider we offered 10/220. Do you understand?
Also, we will know well before the end of the contract, let alone 15 years, who's hat he will wear in the hall. He would need at least 2 WS rings as an Angel. He's heading to Anaheim with 11 Historical years, 445 HR's, and 2 WS rings.
St. Louis had him for the Great part of his career. We'll see if the next 10 are good or bad, considering the dollars.

I understand your opinion perfectly. Do you also understand that since there is no DH in the NL, he considered the AL as an option in order to try to possibly prolong his career? I'm sure he was not trying to tarnish his legacy, but that's all I hear from the bitter Cardinals fans who are mad he didn't stay in St. Louis. Other than Jeter, who else has stayed with one franchise for their whole career recently? You should be glad that he left since that will allow you and the rest of the card fans to continue to hold Stan the Man on the pedestal as the greatest player ever in that organization.

You guys are fooling yourselves if you think Albert Pujols goes into the HOF in any hat other than a Cardinals hat. Even if he somehow manages to duplicate his numbers, awards, WS Championships with the Angels (which he won’t) he will always be thought of as a Cardinal. That isn’t just wishful thinking as a STL fan it is common sense. He cannot possibly put up numbers over the next 11 years like the last 11. If he hadn't have won all of these accolades and just spent the time in St. Louis then maybe, but that isn't the case. He became an all-time great, a legend, in St.Louis and that is how the Hall of Fame will choose to remember him.
Ask yourselves this... even if Albert breaks every record in the books as an Angel will any of you still think of him as an Angel when his career is over, or will he be a Cardinal? See what I mean?
