-Lowe doesn't live up to his deal.
-Chipper plays in only 130 games
-Jurjens becomes the ace of the staff
-Hanson struggles when called up, then settles down and becomes a reliable starter.
-Kotchmen makes us wish we had Tex back.
-Mccann holds the lineup together
-Francouer continues his plument towards becoming a bust

1. Jeff Francoeur will get BA over .270 and weight under 250
2. The Cubs and Yankees will blowup as in Terrell Owens
3. At least 5 times will have a fire sale with two of them being the Royals and the Tigers
4. John Smoltz, Tom Glavine and Randy Johnson will not finish this season
5. Someone will pay Manny as a draw rather than a contribution to win
6. Rickey Henderson will induct Rickey Henderson in the BBHOF :P
7. 2 Atlanta Braves SPs with under go season ending surgery
8. Albert Pujols will have his best season ever or get hurt, one or the other.
9. Ryan Howard will be the next Dave Kingman

Great stuff Top. You always have some great posts.

These are my bold predictions for 2009.

Ken Griffey Jr. is healthy and puts up good numbers in a Mariners uniform. .270+, 20+ HR, 80+ RBIs, and 130+ Hits. If he does reach that many hits, 2 more seasons will get him to 3K like he wants.

Adam Dunn lands anywhere and goes .250+, 45+ HR, 120+ RBIs.

Watch out for it. I have a good feeling and think this is going to happen.

Mets wont win more than 85 games if they dont sign Manny

Amen on that with the exception of beltran the mets outfield has who? If it wasn't for Delgado's resurgence last season the mets would have finished behind the marlins.(but still ahead of my braves)

I think:

Francouer bounces back for a respectable season
Andruw Jones hits .265 with 28 hr's and 102 RBI's for someone
Pelfrey wins 18 games this year 1 more than johan!
Wright Has a Monster Season with 40+ hr's 140 rbi's and .315 avg
the Marlins suprise everyone and make the playoffs(so the firesale will begin again)

I love how everyone just ignores the World Series Champs and anoints the Mets NL East Champs in 2009. The moves the Mets made in the off season will improve their bullpen, but c'mon, the Phils haven't done anything this off season to make them less repeat worthy.

they did lose Pat the bat! I don't think the mets will win the east I think the east will be tougher this year than it has been in the past few years. I would watch out for the Marlins!

Take away Burrell, add in ShittyField, you never know what will happen.

but without Manny, the Mets will be a 3-run a game team....maybe

Lincecum is a great pitcher, and I'm a fan, but he won't sniff 20 wins.

If he was on a team with an offense he could have 20+ easily.

i agree...

That leads me to doing some stat line predictions:

Tim Lincecum: 15-8 3.33 ERA 235 K's
Cliff Lee: 14-10 3.87 ERA
Nick Markakis: .323 28 HR 115 RBI's
Albert Pujols: .313 45 HR 120 RBI's
Alex Rodriguez: .310 50 HR 144 RBI's

Couple of stunners:

Red Sox wont make the playoffs.
Yankees wont win the World Series
Phillies wont win the World Series
Randy Johnson wont get 300 wins this year :(
Jeff Francoeur will bounce back
Highest win total for a Yankees starter is 14
Adam Dunn will hit 40 HR's again no matter where he plays
Ryan Howard won't and will break Mark Reynolds K record
Matt Wieters makes the All-Star team a la Longoria and is in the HR Derby
Nick Markakis makes his first AS team
The Orioles lose 100 games
No one wins 100 games
Yankees, Tigers, and Athletics take their divisions
Phillies, Brewers, and Dodgers take their divisions
AL MVP: Alex Rodriguez
NL MVP: Ryan Braun
AL CY: Roy Halladay
NL CY: Cole Hamels
AL ROY: Matt Wieters
NL ROY: Cameron Maybin

Some of the best hitters in baseball, but no way your staff repeats that performance. (ThatsWhatSheSaid)

Seriously though, Cole was Cy-Tastic, but i STILL have trouble figuring out how you squeezed 80 something victories out of those pitchers.

Unless Carasco comes up and pulls a Volquez, I don't think you have the pitching to compete.

Just my Teal colored glasses talkin.
