I've done a trade before with pwe....but only with both traders agreeing to it. It was for a card each way of under $5.00 and seemed silky to spend the extra couple dollars for padded envelopes.

Buy bubble envelopes in bulk, may cost $.08 each. Shipping is $1.69 with tracking. So why even take the chance for slip-ups in shipping?? Or damaged cards?
Shipping PWE doesn't make sense, period. Spend the extra $.75 and be professional about your shipping.

Like I said its not something I would do unless both traders agree. I've done it once in about 100 trades....

I always give sellers with no feedback the benefit of the doubt. Remember that every great ebay buyer or seller started out with no feedback at one point. If you do things right by shipping securely with DC you should have no issues.

This isn't card related but 2 months later I'm still pissed at the situation. My MIL asked me to sell a rare art deco cobalt blue mirror for her. I researched it and listed it on eBay, and accepted an offer of around $425 shipped for it. I brought it to a UPS Store and paid them to package, ship, and insure it. I never hear anything from the seller until 5 weeks later, telling me the item was broke during shipping, a full month after he received it. He had told me he had it about a week and a half, but I confirmed via tracking it was a full 4 weeks. UPS claims for items damaged need to be filed within 2 weeks. He did an INAD claim through PayPal and ended up winning as they allow up to 45 days after payment to file an INAD claim, meaning I was losing the case no matter what with absolutely no recourse, even though I could not have done anything differently to protect myself besides not selling at all. They didn't even make him ship the 2 pieces back, when I could have had them cut down and sold for the same amount combined.

This is one of the biggest problems with eBay and paypal the thiefs know the system and work it perfectly they know everything is slanted in the buyers favor from the start. I just started selling again to clear out some extras and I know it will happen to some of my items and just not worth the headache to fight it so just selling the cheap items.

I disagree, and the reason I started this thread was for issues regarding Paypal, such as the gentleman above's issue with the mirror.

Let's say I ship securely with DC. The package of cards gets there w/ no problem -- whether it's $240 or $260 and I use signature DC.

Buyer says that he received 4 common cards, or something other than what he bought.

I cannot prove it -- I could videotape the cards going in, but realistically, not possible, and there's always a chance to switcharoo. So - he wins. I file a PO claim for insurance - if he doesn't help out, I'm still out of luck.

Therefore, if someone doesn't have something to lose on their eBay account, I don't see a reason to risk more than $25-50 to ship to them. I'm wary of doing a $250 deal with a (1) FB guy for this reason.

I not only sell cards on ebay, I also manage all of my companies ebay sales as well. We use ebay as a clearance rack to sell slow moving/dead stock. I work for an electrical supply distributor if that matters. I have never had a single issue. I have only had one buyer try to file a claim against me saying he didn't receive the correct HID Light Bulb. If a claim is filed you as a seller get a chance to respond. I responded with proof of delivery and proof we shipped the bulb that was described in the auction. The buyer knew he didn't have a leg to stand on and never responded back to the claim and Paypal awarded in our favor.

I sell $50-$2000 items almost every week to buyers with no or low feedback and never run into issues. Too many of you guys are to scared about the what if/exceptional situation that is one in a million.

Have some faith in humanity. Not saying you have to, but you may be missing out on some opportunities by avoiding these buyers.

So I don't sell a lot on ebay but I consistently sell about 10-15 items per month.

My rules are as follows:

Never deal outside of ebay unless the guy makes me an offer I can't refuse and I can confirm he's a member on a forum I frequent.

Always ship with DC regardless of the price of the item

If it's over $50...I insure it, always.

The last time I sold a $500 card...I had a woman sign a letter saying I put X card in said package with it's condition stated. Don't know if that'd ever hold up and I'm pretty sure she isn't supposed to do anything of the sort but I was not about to get burned.

I wish there was a secure shipping service that would vouch for packages (i.e. the shipper did in fact ship what they were supposed to) I know it doesn't sound possible but it'd be nice.

What proof do you have that the correct bulb was shipped?

Proof in our business system that traces the item shipped back to a bin location and a vendor PO. I actually didn’t even provide proof. I just mentioned in my response to the claim that I can provide that evidence if needed, and the buyer never responded because he knew he was in the wrong.

A video of you packing the correct cards would be plenty. Attach that to any claim and I can guarantee the buyer will back off if they are trying to scam you.

As a 30+ year Journeyman Wireman, I've been corrected so many times using the term "bulb". :D

Carry on now.

LOL, I hear you on that. I have been working in the industry for over 6 years and I still catch myself calling them bulbs from time to time. I wanted to call it a lamp in my above post, but I figured everone on here would wonder why the hell I am selling floor lamps on ebay. :D
