The discussion (in another thread) about when the hobby season begins has me thinking baseball again. I thought it would be fun to take one player a day and try to predict his stats for the season.

I figured the player with 2 consecutive MVP awards was a solid place to start. Looking at his stats from the last couple of years I just noticed that he's now lead the AL in batting average 3 seasons in a row along with everything else he's done.

I'm thinking that at 1st base he could probably 600 at bats and I'm looking at .333/40/125. Not quite where he was the last couple of seasons, but still pretty darn impressive.

Can be me or anyone else. Just wanted to get some conversation going but I don't hold a monopoly, and I figured this way we'll get more dialogue as opposed to people just dumping the projected stats of their favorite players into a thread.

35 more HR's puts him @ the 400 mark.

I am going to guess .325/37/130.

And he's just a couple of hits away from 2000. If he can maintain his performance for a few more years his career numbers will be insane.

Nothing. Hurt in spring training by some prospect who couldn't hold on to the bar.

Id think they would put him at cleanup now and V-Mart at 3rd. Maybe more HRs and a bit less AVG?

324/41/140?

I think his stats will be down a little from the last two years, because of soreness from his nagging injuries and surgery, but he'll still be awesome:

.320 avg. 35 homers, 120 rbi
