Bought a BGS 9 of this, sold for a slight loss a few months later because something came up. Wish I still had it:

2nd highest (b/c I still have the pic and I don't know if graded cards count) - $2,100 a couple days after the product released.

Highest was $3,200 for a 2005 Bowman's Best Vladimir Guerrero Refractor PSA 9 back in 2001.

When the card became super-hot, my local dealer came over with 2 jumbo boxes... I could only afford to buy one. Not being able to decide, I let my wife choose which of the two boxes I would get... Wife MOJO worked! Pulled this in the 4th pack:

3-days and $1250 later, it belonged to someone else. Paid for my collecting addiction for about the next 8 months or so.

^^Awesome^^

I loved the month or so when not only the card world, but much of America wanted to own a copy of that card. Any time a card chase makes national news is an extremely fun time in the hobby.

Great stuff from everyone in this thread.

^^Is that Bush photoshopped into the background of the card? LOL... also Mantle in dugout? Weird... I'm assuming the card is actually auto'ed by Jeter... really cool! Congrats on the sale too... it'd fund my addiction as well for nearly 8-9 months haha

It made up for the fact that I sold 2 base copies at about $4.50 the night before it was on the front page of the New York Times and was going for $200+ on E-Bay. I initially bought 2 hobby boxes... pulled 3 of the base cards. Then bought a jumbo and a hobby box from the LCS (all they had) and pulled two more base and a red-back. Sold those two base as 1-day auctions and got about $55 for the base ones and about $80 for the red back, as the prices were starting to come down. Then used that money to buy that last jumbo from my local dealer (not involved with the LCS). Pulled that copper, plus another base and another red-back. Still have that red back and 2 base cards in my personal collection.

Yes on Bush, Yes on Mantle, no on the auto, as that was a facsimile auto standard on Topps cards. It made the news because of those photoshopped pictures including front page of the New York Times. What I pulled was the copper parallel version (regular ones were black) and it was numbered to 56.

Man I'll never forget that day. I had just woken up around 8 AM and saw on ebay one of the base Jeters ending for over $250 with like 10 minutes left and I was like "WHAT!?!?", then I saw the thread on Beckett...then I went digging through my box of commons from the rack pack case...I had two - one base and one red back.

Those two cards more than paid for my case. Sold them both for $500 combined. Couldn't believe it.

Anyway, here is a short list of expensive cards I've pulled out of case/box breaks - all sold for at least $200 and nothing more than $600. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few and many seem like recent hits b/c I recently b/c a case breaker in mass.

2006 Bowman Chrome Lance Broadway superfractor
2006 Fleer Patchworks Albert Pujols PATCH auto
2012 Allen & Ginter Nolan Ryan red ink auto #'d/10
2012 Topps Chrome atomic refractor Yu Darvish auto #'d/10
2012 Topps Chrome sepia refractor Bryce Harper auto
2012 Topps Chrome Mike Trout/Mark Trumbo dual auto #'d/10
2012 Topps Archives Hank Aaron on card auto
2012 Topps Archives Bryce Harper auto
2012 Finest Chipper Jones Game Changers auto #'d/5
2006 Topps Heritage Bill Mazeroski g/u auto - I forget which subset but it was definitely 2006 and it sold for an insane amount - like $400+. Fricking set collectors are insane.

What a great day that was.I cleared $1800 in an hour just from those Jeter cards. I still have monster boxes full of 2007 Topps from that day.

I was going to just say that I got a Mike Trout Green Auto /199, but thought I'd tell the story on how I got it. First several years ago, I pulled a 09 Chrome Starlin Castro Xfractor /250, then traded it for a 07 Sterling Heyward Auto and a 09 Chrome Starlin Castro Base BGS 9.5. Then I traded the Heyward for a 10 Sterling USA Dual Auto Gerrit Cole/Jackie Bradley Jr /99 and a 10 Platinum Green Refractor Mike Trout Auto /199. Unfortunately, I traded the Trout back in early 2011 for a few STL HOF autos. Probably got $100 worth in return.

As far as BV and what I still have, its probably a Carl Yastremski RC.
