Nice collection. I was expecting this thread to be about little Nicky Swisher though.
He's off to an even better start.

I always love when you repost the Markakis stash man. I honestly think only you and I were buying Markakis cards in late 03 and 04. Unfortunately, I never was interested in picking up anything graded, and that was a huge mistake. Not because I didnt think he would succeed at the major league level, I just didnt look at my stash as an investment. Always love looking at those gold 9.5's.

And whats amazing, If i remember correctly, you never paid anything more than $150 for each of those golds right? And something like $10 per for the base, $15 for the ref's.

Also, any of those 9.5 x-fractors without xfractor lines? To date, I dont think ive ever seen a well centered xfractor without lines.

How much of a profit are you currently sitting on? 700% or more?

BTW, If you do happen to have an Xfractor WITHOUT lines in 9.5 grade, and your willing to sell, PLEASE keep me in mind. My copy is well centered, but the lines are killing me.

Thanks to everyone!

I had most of the graded ones (almost all) graded myself.

I don't think that X has any lines on it. I'd have to go check.

Do you see one in the scan?

I don't. I can't answer that until I look at it in person.

Truly the toughest card to find centered for me in the last ten years is a Nick Markakis xfractor rookie.

Can we see your Homer Bailey stash? :)
Sure. As soon as he gives me a viable reason to post it. Actually, I have to scan a bunch of additions since the last post. I'll post it soon.

Thanks.

This is the best way I can describe what I mean. This has always led me to believe that there were two different print runs for his xfractors, or there were two different xfractor sheets used to make his cards.

The first batch with the good xfractor background all came off the cutting board horribly offcenter, while the second batch, with the xfractor lines, came out perfectly cut and centered across the board. We'll never know, but I would pay a hefty premium for an X-Fractor perfectly centered with no lines. I have never seen one to this day, graded or ungraded.

Well you will have to see it in person then to appreciate it, because it has no lines. It's one sheet of xfractor technology. It scans like this for whatever reason of light deflection, but there are no xfractor lines on this card.

Zero Nada Zippo. You can believe what you want, obviously, but that doesn't change the fact that there are no xfractor lines on the card.

Thus the 9.5 surface grade, I guess.

Here's a larger scan.

This is how xfractor lines appear on my scanner.

Note the horizontal lines on the Billingsley and Markakis to the right (i.e., one on each card at about the same position).

The Markakis on the left has none, just like the graded copy.

Diagonal lines you refer to are part of the 2003 BCDP xfractor diamond pattern.

It's clearly discernable on all of the cards pictured.

WOW. That 9.5 truly is perfect. No lines whatsoever, perfect centering. You sir have a very rare gem on your hands. If you ever, and I mean ever, plan on moving that, please make sure to contact me first. Just beautiful.

I guess that completely blows my theory out of the water. I really have not seen a well centered xfractor like yours without lines.

Also, I completely understand how the xfractor design is supposed to be, but the Markakis x's either are well centered with lines, or o/c without. At least from the second scan, you have a copy that is centered without the lines. As you probably discerned a long time ago, you have a very rare copy in your hands.
