Hey guys
Was just thinking about this as I saw my pins that I had gotten while I was there. It's basically a huge 97 team tournament that takes place each week throughout the Summer. There are divisions for 12 year olds and 10 year olds. Here are some pics-
many local teams made the trip as a team, but we didn't. there was a team though that was organized solely for this trip, and they literally had hundreds try-out- i didn't make it although many of those kids never went on to play baseball in high school, unlike many of us who did not make it, some who are even playing in college now lol
I coach a 12&U team and 1 of our players went this past summer to play in a tournament there. I have known him and his family for a while, since were from the same neighborhood and he is very good. He was playing travel ball for an AAU team, and after traveling to play in North Carolina he was approached by a coach who was sending teams to the tournament at those fields. He had watched him pitch and after the game ended approached him about playing on his team, allowing him to play on the team for free (he had no hit an undefeated team). He got to go for the weekend and they did pretty well.
We went up there and I did average, but I did make their website because I was one of something like 12 kids who hit a grand slam on opening day! Then a couple days later I almost let one up, but the huge tall fences saved me. If anyone has a kid thinking of going it was a truly amazing experience.
