I don't know Sly... We aren't even done with day one and I have 25% of my card already marked of and if the day holds up, I'll have close to 50% blacked out. I have several team affiliates on my card, so I only need a +/- 3 run differential for those.

2 of them are Toronto San Francisco, so I knocked both of those off today with a 4-0 shutout. Then the Pirates as well, and they lost by 5 to ATL so I knocked them off, plus I have 3 old school logos that count as free spaces. I just hope I'm understanding the game rules correctly and all these cross offs are correct!

Hey Bill...for your affiliated teams, are you crossing them off as BOTH teams winning and/or losing by 3? The way I understand it with the affiliated teams is both/at least two teams need to have the 3 win/loss for the same day. For example: I have the Arkansas Travelers and the Orem Owlz, both of who are affiliated with the Angels. In order to use rule #2 I think both of them must win and/or lose in the same day with by 3+ points.

cjedmonton - does that sound correct?

I included SS leagues just to help diversify the number of logos used in the game (240). You'll notice that I didn't add the Dominican and Arizona Fall Leagues!

At any rate, Sly is correct in that I do not expect a blackout within the next week or two. The cards are 100% randomly generated, so I don't even know the general distribution of affiliated teams and/or free spaces.

All in all, it should be a fun (or at least different) game to try out.

Hooboy...here we go! I was so sure I explained everything clearly! haha

Yes, your interpretation is exactly correct. In order to cross 2 or more affiliated logos off with method 2 (3 or more run margin), they must both/all win or lose by 3 or more on the same day.

Again, you do not have to use method 2 for affiliated logos. If I were playing and I had 3 or more affiliated logos, and one of them wins/loses by 6 or more, I would probably knock it out by itself using method 1. Knocking out the other 2 using method 2 is probably more likely than getting all 3 to win/lose by 3 on the same day and is more likely than getting a single affiliated logo to win/lose by 6 or more.

Make sense?

The simplest way to put it is that if you want to knock out 2 or more affiliated logos using method 2, it's all or nothing. You cannot cross one off with a 3 run win/lose margin on one day and another one with the same margin on the next.

Bill, if you have approx. 50% knocked out already, I'm guessing you have several smaller bingos in place already?

Please be sure to cross off the affiliated logos using method 2 only if they both won/lost by 3 or more on the same day.

Williamsport to Des Moines - 931 Miles
Des Moines to San Antonio - 1,015 Miles
San Antonio to Williamsport - 1,703 Miles
North West League - 1000 miles
GRAND TOTAL: 4,649 MILES

**EDIT: Updating the total based on cjedmonton's comments on the 2nd page. Should be 1000 for the League Logo.

Not quite. Remember, a road trip consists of 4 legs (upper left ---> upper right ---> lower right ----> lower left ---> upper left).

So:

Williamsport to Des Moines - 931 Miles
Des Moines to Northwest League- 500 Miles
Northwest League to San Antonio - 500 Miles
San Antonio to Williamsport - 1,703 miles
GRAND TOTAL: 3,634 MILES

Unfortunately, it's neither here nor there since you aren't in the running for the longest or shortest trip. Sorry, Sly!

Definitely makes sense now lol :) So if you have 3 affiliated teams then ALL 3 teams must win/lose by 3 points and to be able to do rule #2 you must have at least 2 affiliated teams. If that is correct, I believe I have it down :)

Yeah, my fault. Was initially doing it between the three and adding in the 1000. But as you said, moot point regardless :)

Holy crap, my card is a mess then. I think I will scratch it all and try again now that I am clear on the 3 run rule regarding affiliated teams.

Plenty of time, Bill! No worries.

Just between you, me, and the backstop, I'm glad you aren't a day or two away from a blackout. Gotta keep it interesting!

metallicalex777:

If you have 3+ affiliated teams, you do not have to force method 2 on them....only if you want to cross them off by winning or losing by 3 or more.

Yes, to use method 2, you must have at least 2 affiliated teams.

Who`s on first....I dunno...3rd base! haha

Anywhere Delta goes.
I appreciate the contest but will have to not be involved with it any longer. I work 12 hrs a day and just don't have time to check all these teams for wins and such. I really do appreciate all the contests you run, this one is just not for me.

one last piece for clarificiation - Say both Rome and Missiissippi Braves lose by 3 or more runs on the same day. Can I cross BOTH of them off, or do I pick just one of them that I want to apply method 2 to?

I have one question too. I have the Phillies who won by 5 and their AA affiliate who lost by 4. Do both of them have to win or both of them have to lose for it to count, or in this case can I cross them off if one won and one lost?

So on the affiliate cross off - I have three Cardinal affiliates. One of them (Johnson City) doesn't even begin play until the 17th of June. Two others (Peoria and Springfield) played yesterday and both won/lost by 3 or more runs. Can I not cross those two off, or do I have to wait until they all play on the same day? If I could cross off those two, I would have had a column.

I've got 4 teams that don't even begin play from 6/17 to 6/20. Ugh!
