I don't even know if they make the following as haven't found one, but here goes.

I'm looking for a cell phone sized (battery charged) LED display.

Just need it to read $10 or $10.00 for my showcase

I've seen them at Kohl's department stores, so I know what you're talking about.

I don't know where you'd get them though.

I have an LED belt buckle lol. You can program whatever message you want. Got it for a themed party one year. I'm sure you can imagine the creative "messages" I programmed at pant-level.

Now it's just collecting dust. Its yours if I can find it.

If you can find a store that's still open. Radio Shack closed all the stores with in 25 miles of me. And I think they closed almost half of their stores and have filed bankruptcy did they not?

Yea they did. The one near me is still open but I think that was privately owned. All things related to radio shack was removed. but the name is still there.

I can think of three radio shacks off the top of my head that are still open here. I never go, but they're there

Same here.. I'm surprised they are still around at all.

their reorganization keeps the more profitable RadioShack's open (and closes or rebrands those unprofitable or less profitable ones to Sprint stores). In other words, they didn't go totally bankrupt.

I wouldn't step foot in one unless it's cell phone related or I need a battery so bad that I can't wait to get one from the web. I know they are trying to get back into DIY stuff to save their hide, but I don't think their sales clerks have any clue about answers to what a beginner DIY may ask them.

as for the OP question, I'm sure you could make your own LED price display modules for a showcase (buy some LED segments, mount them to your shelf, wire them to a a Raspberry Pi or Arduino hobbyist-friendly microcontroller) and use a battery that outputs 8-12V.
